Mayor Elicker celebrates launch of New Haven United FC
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker joined New Haven United Football Club owner Jason Price, coaches, and players at a celebratory launch, the city's semi-pro soccer team, on Friday afternoon ahead of the team's inaugural season.
New Haven United FC is part of the National Premier Soccer League, which features players from Division I colleges and players beginning their professional careers. New Haven United looks to expand access to soccer, inspire youth, and strengthen community pride.
The team's first match will be on Tuesday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m. against the Hartford City Football Club at Yale University's Reese Stadium.
