Brooklyn Nets' Michael Porter Jr. dishes on what he's looking for in a future wife

Brooklyn Nets' Michael Porter Jr. dishes on what he's looking for in a future wife originally appeared on The Sporting News Michael Porter Jr. knows what he wants in a woman, and it's not just good looks. The Brooklyn Nets star is hoping to find a domestic wife that brings "something to the table." Appearing on the Tuesday, August 12 episode of the "One Night with Steiny" podcast, Porter opened up about his ideal type of girl and why substance matters more than clout or glamour. "My only thing with a girl is, you gotta bring something to the table. "I don't mind providing for you, I don't mind doing that," the 27-year-old NBA player said. "You can stay at the crib, you can do your thing. You gotta bring something to the table." A woman's value can come in many forms. But having skills in the kitchen is one thing the NBA star finds attractive. "These girls nowadays, it's like they just want to live like queens and do absolutely nothing." -Michael Porter Jr. "You gotta help me mentally, you gotta be able to cook or something... otherwise what value are you bringing to my life," Porter explained. "These girls nowadays it's like they just want to live like queens and do absolutely nothing." Ambition matters to MPJ While Porter doesn't expect a woman to be chasing a major career, he does expect his leading lady to have ambition in other parts of her life if she's going to be a match for him. "You don't have to have ambition as a woman in terms of like you want to further your career, but you gotta have ambition in some way like you like to get up and workout you like to build something in your life," he said. He says that's one of the big differences he's noticed between women and those he's met in larger cities since joining the NBA. Raised in a large household with a stay-at-home mother who homeschooled him, Porter says he'd be fine if his future wife chose the same path, as long as she's not completely idle. "In a wifey, I don't mind if she's a stay-at-home mom," he said. "My mom was a stay-at-home mom, but she raised all eight of us kids. She homeschooled us, she cooked for us when my dad was out working. She raised us." The NBA star says reality dating shows aren't for him, and the world would "hate" him if he ever appeared on one of them. "It just wouldn't be a good sight," he said. "Those people on those shows they don't necessarily actually like each other." The Denver Nuggets traded the Missouri standout to the Nets earlier this summer. He played his first six seasons with the Nuggets, winning an NBA title during the 2022-2023 season.
