Representational Image Amazon layoffs: Amid the recent layoffs by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)– India's largest IT services exporter– another major global tech giant has reportedly sacked more than 100 employees, including a CEO. According to reports, Amazon has laid off 110 workers from its Wondery podcast network, including the company's CEO. Why Amazon laid off Wondery employees? In an internal memo to employees, Steve Boom, Vice President of Amazon's Audio, Twitch and Games, said that narrative and story-based podcast series such as Dr. Death, American Scandal and Business Wars, which were previously available on Wondery, will now be managed under its audiobook service Audible, as the company moves towards creator-led, video-based content. According to the company, its move is driven by how podcasts are being consumed by audiences, with video-style shows featuring personalities gaining more popularity, especially on platforms like YouTube and Spotify. Amazon is devising new strategies to drive advertising, profitability, and discoverability, it said. What happens to podcasts hosted on Wondery? Amazon stated that most of the employees laid off from Wondery have been shifted to other divisions with the company, but maintained that Wondery will retain its brand identity, and continue to host a few creator-driven shows. The Wondery+ app will also continue, it said. Regarding the fate of popular podcasts on the platform, such as New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelsey, Mind the Game, and Armchair Expert, Amazon said they will be housed in a new Creator Services group within Amazon's Talent Services division, while some podcasts will be produced under the Wondery brand. TCS layoffs Wondery layoffs come amidst the backdrop of Tata Group-owned TCS recently announcing plans to cut two percent of its global workforce, which would result in over 12,000 TCS workers losing their jobs in the current financial year. TCS layoffs, the largest in the history of India's IT industry, will affect workers from all countries and domains where the company is operational. The TCS layoffs are likely to be conducted between April 2025 and March 2026, Moneycontrol reported.

Brad Pitt says his generation of actors was 'a little more uptight' than today's: 'You didn't sell out'
Brad Pitt has some advice for actors on the front-end of their career. "I like watching what the new generations are coming in with," Pitt, 61, said on Wednesday's episode of the New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast. "I like to see what they're up against and also the way they negotiate their way through it. I feel they enjoy it more. We were a little more uptight — and had to be — about acting. You didn't sell out. You didn't sell out. You didn't sell out. And now, it's this thing of, 'Hey, man, we can be artists in many different arenas. So let's do it, and let's enjoy it.'" Pitt appeared to be trying to compliment the actors joining his profession since he started out on shows such as Dallas and 21 Jump Street in the ʼ80s, then went on to star in films such as Fight Club, Se7en, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Moneyball. Still, he had a warning. "But this idea, they also get caught up in [thinking they] have to have a franchise or have to have a superhero or something like that," Pitt said. "'Don't! Don't!' They'll die." When the hosts said the actors would be worked to death, Pitt — the winner of 2020's Best Supporting Actor Oscar, for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood — agreed. Pitt himself had a cameo in 2018's Deadpool 2, but he has otherwise kept a distance from superhero movies. As for franchises, he memorably played the part of the always-hungry schemer Rusty in the Ocean's Eleven movies alongside friend George Clooney. He just might have landed himself another franchise with his summer blockbuster F1: The Movie, which seriously cleaned up at the box office when it debuted June 27. The movie raked in $144 million globally, with $55.6 million coming from U.S. Joseph Kosinski had told EW before the movie was released that he was open to giving Pitt's character another lap around the track. "But that's up to the audience to decide if they want to see it," Kosinski said. "I loved working with this group of people. I loved creating our own Formula One team. Travis Kelce had to "deal with" weight gain when he was a child. The 35-year-old footballer admitted that he was a "heavyweight" during his youth thanks to his love for pastry snacks, whilst his brother and fellow sports star Jason, 37, is more "newly founded" to the idea of having to watch his waistline. Speaking on Wednesday's (19.03.25) episode of his 'New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce' podcast, he told guest Ben Stiller: "I was a heavyweight growing up. Jason, he didn't get fat until he went to office. We switched places growing up. So Jason is more newly founded into it. "He was chubby, I wouldn't say he was fat. I think I was dealing with my love for honey buns. That's what I was kinda dealing with more." The Kansas City tight end then mentioned to Ben his 1995 comedy 'Heavyweights' and noted that he always wanted to go to a fat camp similar to what is portrayed in the movie. He said: "I saw 'Heavyweights' and was like, 'Oh, man. If there's a camp out there like that, I wanna go to it. Just kids that can be fat together and hide candy in their beds. "Kids that never really lived up to the excellence of their brother and just the expectations that their parents set for themselves." Ben explained to Travis - who has been in a relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift for almost two years - that it would be unlikely for such a film to be made these days. He said: "My character [a camp counselor] is so mean to these kids who are dealing with weight issues. I just don't think that's getting off the drawing board these days."
