1.5 L stolen from construction co staff

Kolkata: A north Kolkata businessman has lodged a police complaint that Rs 1.5 lakh in cash was stolen from one of his employees, who was carrying it to a project site in Kamarhati.
The complainant, Rana Roy (54), said the money was intended for business transactions related to their ongoing projects, including a site in the Kamarhati Municipality area.
Krishanu Banerjee, a resident of Nischinda Purbapara in Howrah and an employee of New India Construction Co, claimed that he found the cash missing after reaching a marble shop on Pran Krishna Mukherjee Road. Cops from Chitpore PS are collecting CCTV footage from the spot to detect the accused. They said they did not rule out an insider angle in the theft.
