New Rumor Claims Lucasfilm Is Building New Jedi Order Era Coming to STAR WARS Universe — GeekTyrant
A new rumor has surfaced about the future of the Star Wars universe. The last Star Wars movies we saw on the big screen were not received well by the fan base, as they were not very cohesive, and had a lot to live up to with the high hopes of viewers going in. We've seen several shows set in the same universe released since then, with many of them being pretty good, but yet again, we are facing a new set of films headed our way. Aside from The Mandalorian and Grogu , which is anticipated by fans of the series, and Star Wars: Starfighter , starring Ryan Gosling, it's been announced that the next film to take place inside the timeline we know from the main nine films will be called Star Wars: New Jedi Order . This was previously announced, but a new rumor claims that this film will just be the start of a new era in the Star Wars timeline. According to industry scooper Daniel Richtman, Lucasfilm plans to create a New Jedi Order era that will be set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker . This era will 'be similar to the Mandoverse' and will 'gradually build towards a major event that brings together characters introduced in past films.' According to Ritchman, this era will begin with the upcoming Daisy Ridley Rey movie. This is just a rumor at this time, as it has not been officially confirmed by Lucasfilm, but it does make sense that they'd shoot for a new trilogy that could maybe be seen as redemptive by the fans. What we know so far about the first film is that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy ( Ms. Marvel ) has been tapped to direct the Rey movie, which will take place about 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker , and will focus on Rey constructing a new Jedi Order. Stay tuned for updates on the Star Wars universe.

Rey's Return to STAR WARS Reportedly Paused as Lucasfilm Prioritizes Other Projects — GeekTyrant
The Rey-centric Star Wars movie may be hitting pause… again. According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the long-gestating New Jedi Order film, which would see Daisy Ridley reprise her role as Rey under the direction of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, is reportedly back on hold. Richtman says, 'The Rey movie is on hold once again, as both the Shawn Levy and James Mangold Star Wars films are moving forward first. The project is not canceled — just temporarily on hold.' This shift isn't entirely unexpected. After Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight exited the project, a new writer was never publicly confirmed. Despite that uncertainty, Lucasfilm still appeared to view the film as a priority… until now. The status of Rey's next chapter has been murky for a while. One moment it's full speed ahead, the next it's reworking behind the scenes. But don't count Rey out just yet. In fact, a previously report suggests she still plays a major role in Lucasfilm's long-term plans. 'Rey, the scavenger-turned-Jedi played by Daisy Ridley in the last three episode movies, is key to the franchise's next turn. That potentially puts Kinberg's trilogy story development, as early in its conceptual stages as it may be, on a collision course with the Rey standalone movie that is actively in the works with director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.' The report went even further, noting that Ridley's Rey is more than just another character. According to one unnamed source: 'She is the most valuable cinematic asset, in some ways maybe the only one, Star Wars has right now.' That might explain why writer-producer Simon Kinberg ( X-Men: Dark Phoenix ) is reportedly developing a new trilogy that could feature Rey in some capacity, though how it connects to New Jedi Order is still unclear. As for Ridley herself, she spoke about her return last year in an interview with Premiere magazine: "They simply asked if I wanted to do it, based on an idea, without the script being written yet. But if I hadn't been convinced by the concept, the movie wouldn't have been made. I took a day to think about it and I told myself that I had had great times making those films. 'This new adventure seemed fun to me, so why say no? My thoughts on the subject are quite simple: if I didn't think the story was worth telling, I wouldn't have come back." The project was said to be set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker , with Rey building a new Jedi Order from scratch. Whether that vision still stands or gets absorbed into another project remains to be seen. For now, the wait for Rey's return continues… again.

Mark Hamill Retires From Luke Skywalker, Won't Return For Future 'Star Wars' Movies
It appears that Mark Hamill may be done with the Star Wars franchise, as the actor who played Luke Skywalker has announced his retirement from the character, ruling out his return to the universe and suggesting that the franchise should look towards the future instead of being stuck in the past. This comes after an interview with ComicBook, where Hamill talked about his upcoming movie, The Life of Chuck . 'I am so grateful to [George Lucas] for letting me be a part of that back in the day, the humble days when George called Star Wars 'the most expensive low-budget movie ever made,'' Hamill replied when asked about his potential return as a Force ghost in the upcoming Rey-led Star Wars film, New Jedi Order . 'We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that. But my deal is, I had my time. I'm appreciative of that, but I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters. And by the way, when I disappeared in [ The Last Jedi ], I left my robes behind. And there's no way I'm gonna appear as a naked Force ghost.' Hamill's answer seems loud and clear, The Last Jedi might be the last fans see of Luke Skywalker in any form. True to his suggestion, the franchise is placing the spotlight on Daisy Ridley's Ray, who is set to return for New Jedi Order , the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy-directed sequel to 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker , which will centre on Ray as she rebuilds the Jedi order and is set 15 years after the preceding movie. Looking towards the future of the franchise, Disney has three films in its release pipeline: Two set in 2026 on 22 May and 18 December, and one on 17 December 2027.
