Mango's Overgate Dundee store opens

Spanish fashion giant Mango has opened another key UK store in the Overgate Dundee shopping centre. Located within a prime ground floor site, the new store spans over 3,700 sq ft, becoming one of the first in Scotland to feature the brand's Mediterranean-inspired New Med concept, present in the group's flagship stores around the world. The store also follows Mango's mission to 'generate a low environmental impact through traditional, handcrafted, sustainable and natural materials'. Additional features include a click & collect area and a Committed Box, a container where customers can deposit clothing and footwear for reuse. Overgate, measuring 440,000 sq ft and located in the heart of Dundee city centre, was acquired by Frasers Group in March 2023. Mango represents 'an accelerated tranche of new store openings and significant lease extensions over the last 18 months', which includes British footwear brand Clarks that also just opened a new 2,160 sq ft store. Soon to anchor the 70-unit centre will be a 100,000 sq ft Frasers department store, scheduled to open in June, 'becoming one of the largest shop fitouts in Dundee... transforming Overgate and significantly strengthening the east coast of Scotland's retail offering', the owner said.

'Fantastic addition' as retailer opens on North Wales shopping park

A global fashion retailer has opened its first store in North Wales. Mango opened at Broughton Shopping Park with bosses describing it as a "fantastic addition". They have taken on a unit left empty when shoe retailer Clarks left despite a petition by shoppers to save it. The unit had been left empty since then. It is part of an expansion by the international fashion group in the UK. The 4,000 sq ft store offers Mango's women's line exclusively, from clothing to accessories and footwear. Alan Pruden-Barker, centre manager at Broughton, said: 'It's incredibly exciting to welcome visitors into our new Mango store and we feel very proud to have been selected as the brand's first destination in North Wales. 'As a leading international fashion name, we know it will be a big hit with visitors. It's a fantastic addition to the centre - especially as visitors look to enhance their summer wardrobes - and further strengthens our growing fashion offer.' A Mango spokesperson said: "The fit out is based on a Mediterranean-inspired concept, New Med, which showcases the brand's spirit and freshness. Sustainability and architectural integration are key in the new design, which conceives the Mango store as a Mediterranean home with different rooms with a predominance of warm tones and neutral colours, combined with traditional, handcrafted, sustainable, and natural materials." Broughton shopping park opened in June 1999 with 300,000 square feet of shops and 16 initial retailers. The site now has around 40 retailers as well as a leisure and restaurant complex. It is the busiest shopping park in North Wales with over 10m annual visitors and around 2,000 people employed there.
