Chance the Rapper Shares "Toughest Part" of Kirsten Corley Divorce
Originally appeared on E! Online
Chance the Rapper knows that family is holy.
That's why the "No Problem" rapper believes the most challenging part of going through a divorce with his estranged wife Kirsten Corley—with whom he shares daughters Kensli, 9, and Marli, 5—has been adjusting to a new coparenting dynamic.
'The reality of it is everybody deals with their family different," Chance explained during an Aug. 14 appearance on the New Rory & Mal podcast. "The family I come from is very, very close. It's very important for us and for her and her family for us to be tight. So we still travel together, we still family forever. It's just a different format of it.'
However, the 32-year-old noted that just because the former couple—who announced their breakup in April 2024 following five years of marriage—have found a way to spend time together for their kids, doesn't mean it's not "weird" between them sometimes.
'I ain't gonna act like it's not tough," Chance admitted. "I ain't gonna act like it's perfect and we shook hands and dipped. It's weird. I think the toughness is that it's a reality. I think that's the toughest part."

He continued, "You might feel like you're over it and you're not over it. Or you might be used to a certain pattern of operating, and because it don't work like that, you have to allow yourself grace to deal with that and operate in reality.'
Chance emphasized that he and Kirsten, also 32, have done a good job navigating that adjustment as well. As he put it, 'We try and always remember the importance of supporting each other, loving each other—not just for the sake of our kids, but for the sake of each other's sanity."
In fact, the Grammy winner—who met Kirsten when he was 9 before tying the knot with the former model in 2019—said the pair still see each other "at least every other week" because of their kids.
'It's the rest of your life you will be connected, no matter what, emotionally, to this being,' he said. 'Y'all in a Venn diagram. Y'all both connected to the same thing."
Ultimately, Chance is happy that he and Kirsten are on the same page about the type of relationship they wish to have in the aftermath of their breakup.
"I'm not saying we the most emotionally mature people," the "Holy" rapper said, "but we both at least have that vantage point that allows us to never go too far in any direction. And I'm grateful that I got somebody that is like that.'
