'Four planes have now been diverted to Birmingham. Check your flight before travelling to the airport.' An East Midlands airport spokesman said: 'We have accepted a diverted TUI aircraft from Birmingham Airport after it declared an emergency with a punctured tyre. 'It has landed safely, and all passengers have disembarked, but it is currently preventing other aircraft from taking off or landing on our runway. They should contact their airline for the latest updates.' Thousands of tons of rock crashed onto the sand at Budleigh Salterton, Devon on Saturday. The terrifying moment, which saw a huge plume of dust billow across the sea, was caught on camera. 'Thousands of tons must have come down,' eyewitness James Walters told NeedToKnow. 'Police, lifeboat and coastguards were there. 'I don't think anybody was injured, but they had to close the coast path.' Some people became trapped on one side of the rock fall and had to be rescued by a lifeboat. A spokesperson from Sidmouth Lifeboat said: 'Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat was tasked by Solent Coastguard after a significant cliff collapse at Budleigh Beach. Sunbathers were frighteningly close to the massive rock fall in Devon (Picture: Jam Press/James Walters) Some people became trapped on one side of the collapse (Picture: Jam Press/James Walters) 'The crew's primary objective was to search for anyone caught in the fall zone and to support Beer and Exmouth Coastguard teams already on scene. 'Upon arrival, lifeboat crew members discovered several people stranded on the wrong side of the cliff fall. 'Two individuals were safely transferred back to Budleigh Beach.' They thanked all the volunteers and agencies involved in the 'swift response'. Devon County Council has since closed sections of the coastal path. 'Please remember: cliffs along this stretch of coastline are unstable. Keep a safe distance from the base and the edge, and follow all local safety warnings,' the Sidmouth Lifeboat spokesperson added. 'Please avoid the area and don't attempt to circumvent the closures.' A man remains in serious condition with gunshot injuries after police arrived during the killings in the Drummeer Road area of Maguiresbridge. Sign up for all of the latest stories Start your day informed with Metro's News Updates newsletter or get Breaking News alerts the moment it happens. Police are probing a triple murder and attempted suicide line of inquiry. Police said the three victims are a woman aged in her 40s and two children, one male and one female, however their ages have not yet been confirmed. Mr McGowan said that the suspect has a 'limited footprint' with police. Speaking in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, Mr McGowan said that two people were pronounced dead at the scene while a third person died in hospital on Wednesday afternoon. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said they received a 999 call at 8.21am on Wednesday and dispatched three emergency ambulances, one rapid response paramedic, two ambulance officers and an ambulance doctor to the scene. Mr McGowan said: 'Earlier this morning, police received a report of an incident in Maguiresbridge. 'Officers, along with their colleagues in the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended a house in the Drummeer Road area. 'Tragically, despite best medical efforts, two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Sadly, I can confirm that a third person has this afternoon passed away in hospital. 'The fourth person, who was taken to hospital, remains in a condition described as serious. 'All four had sustained gunshot wounds and I can confirm that all four individuals are from the same household.' Mr McGowan said the shooting was ongoing when police arrived at the scene on Wednesday morning. 'It just happened prior to police attending, so, as you can appreciate, it's a very harrowing scene for all involved,' he told reporters. 'So, not only police officers, but colleagues in the ambulance service, and family members. Without going into detail, it's a very harrowing scene for anybody to attend.' He added: 'There is limited domestic history involving the people concerned and that is certainly one line of inquiry that the detectives will take forward.' He said the alarm was raised by a phone call made from the house where the incident was taking place. 'I am keen first and foremost to express my sympathy to the family members and loved ones who are today left in total shock and who will struggle to come to terms with their unimaginable loss,' he added. 'Detectives have now commenced a murder investigation and are working at pace to determine the circumstances. 'This is a quiet rural location and I'm aware that this tragic event will have sent shockwaves of sadness throughout the community.' The local Gaelic football club said those who died in the tragedy were all 'active and beloved' members of the club. 'St Mary's Maguiresbridge GFC offer our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those impacted by the tragic incident which happened in our community this morning,' it said in a statement on Facebook. 'We are working with the GAA at county, provincial and national level, to implement the Association's critical incident protocols. 'We will work closely with all appropriate services to ensure that those who require support at this difficult time can access it.' Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O'Neill said she was 'absolutely heartbroken' at the news. 'My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the local community,' she said on the social media site X. 'I have no doubt that the people of Maguiresbridge will come together and support one another through this incredibly difficult time.' Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly said it was 'truly devastating' to hear of 'this terrible and violent event'. 'My thoughts at this dreadful time are with the loved ones, family and friends, but most of all for the tragedy of the lives cut off so cruelly. Terrible news,' she said. Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Hilary Benn said it was a 'tragic and deeply distressing' incident. 'My thoughts are with the victims, their relatives and the local community in Fermanagh. 'I would urge the public not to speculate and to allow the PSNI to continue their investigation.' Health Minister Mike Nesbitt and Justice Minister Naomi Long also urged against online speculation and appealed for privacy for the families and friends of those who had died. In a joint statement, they commended the work of the first responders and emergency services. 'We are horrified and heartbroken to learn of the tragedy that has occurred in Maguiresbridge today,' they said. 'We send our deepest sympathies to the families affected and to the wider community in County Fermanagh. 'The shock of this terrible event is being felt by many people and we would urge those in need of support to reach out to services provided within the health and social care system, and in the voluntary and community sector. 'We wish to commend the work of first responders and the emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Police Service of Northern Ireland, as well as staff from Western and Belfast Health and Social Care Trusts, the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service and Air Ambulance NI. 'Those who work in the front line of our emergency and health services are the best of us and we value their tremendous dedication and compassion at this most awful of times for families and the community. 'We would appeal for privacy for the families and friends of those who have died and would caution against speculation online as the PSNI continues its investigation.' Surgeon 'amputated his own legs after buying videos from Eunuch Maker'
Hopper carried out hundreds of amputations (Picture: SWNS) A vascular surgeon who carried out hundreds of amputation operations before having his legs removed has been charged with fraud. Surgeon Neil Hopper, 49, has also been charged with encouraging someone else to remove the body parts of others. He's set to appear in front of Cornwall Magistrates' Court today, accused of two counts of fraud by false representation, and a charge of encouraging or assisting in the commission of an indictable-only offence, namely grievous bodily harm. Between June 3 and June 26 in 2019, Hopper is accused of lying to insurers and saying his leg injuries were the result of 'sepsis and were not self-inflicted', in order to get a payout. He's also accused of buying sick videos from The EunuchMaker website, which showed the removal of limbs. The videos, purchased between August 2018 and December 2020, 'encouraged Marius Gustavson to remove body parts of third parties'. Gustavson was jailed for 22 years after performing illegal castrations and livestreaming them on the dark web. Neil documented his journey after amputation (Picture: Instagram) The operations were filmed and uploaded to Gustavson's 'Eunuch Maker' website for paying subscribers, netting the Norwegian over £300,000 over a six year period. Hopper has not worked at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust since March 2023. He's been under restrictions in his practice while the General Medical Council investigated, and he has been suspended from the medical register since December 2023. A Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said: 'The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, where Mr Hopper has been employed, has worked closely with Devon and Cornwall Police throughout the investigation.' A hospital trust spokesman added: 'The charges do not relate to Mr Hopper's professional conduct and there has been no evidence to suggest any risk to patients. 'Mr Hopper worked at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals from 2013 until he was suspended from duty in March 2023, following his initial arrest. 'Former patients with any questions or concerns about their treatment can contact the Royal Cornwall Hospitals' patient experience team.' He appeared on This Morning in 2020 (Picture: Shutterstock) The Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust has performed hundreds of amputations in his career. He even featured in a documentary about his progress towards heading to space. Hopper was also a former Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Exeter. Trans senator says 'f*** Rowling' and openly breaks Supreme Court toilet ruling
The Spanish senator 'fondly broke the law' by using the women's bathroom (Picture: A transgender Spanish senator stuck her middle finger up in the women's bathroom at Gatwick Airport after defying the Supreme Court's trans ruling. Carla Antonelli, Spain's first out trans senator, said 'f*** Rowling' as she 'fondly' defied guidelines not to use the women's bathroom. In April the Supreme Court ruled that the definitions of 'sex' and 'woman' in Equality Act 2010 refer to 'biological sex'. The Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) then recommended in a interim guidance that 'trans women (biological men) should not be permitted to use the women's facilities' in public spaces. Lily Allen's hit 'F*** You' is playing in the background (Picture: Sign up for all of the latest stories Start your day informed with Metro's News Updates newsletter or get Breaking News alerts the moment it happens. With Lily Allen's hit 'F*** You' playing, Antonelli attacked the new rules after using the women's toilets at Gatwick Airport. She said: 'According to English law, I have just broken the law. 'I just entered the toilets of my sex – woman. 'But I am going back in because I am very fond of breaking the rules. 'Now I am going to wash my hands.' The 66-year-old senator then walks back inside the toilets with her suitcase and can be seen sticking up her middle finger to the camera. The video's thumbnail shows the senator, with the text '#f*** Rowling' plastered over it. JK Rowling praised the Supreme Court's ruling (Picture: Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images) JK Rowling, who is also known for her controversial campaigning for women's rights, said she was 'so proud' over the Supreme Court ruling in April. In a post on X, the Harry Potter author wrote: 'It took three extraordinary, tenacious Scottish women with an army behind them to get this case heard by the Supreme Court and, in winning, they've protected the rights of women and girls across the UK. @ForWomenScot, I'm so proud to know you.' Five judges were tasked with deciding whether the legal understanding of 'woman' includes trans women with gender recognition certificates (GRC). The Scottish Government said this definition includes trans women with a GRC, a document that shows a person's affirmed gender is legally recognised. While For Women Scotland (FWS), which campaigns against trans rights, said this should only be for 'biological women'. Carla Antonelli has passionately defended trans rights in her career (Picture: ZUMA Press Wire/Shutterstock) While presenting the Supreme Court's decision, Lord Hodge said: 'The terms 'woman' and 'sex', in the Equality Act 2010, refer to a biological woman and biological sex. 'But we counsel against reading this judgement as a triumph of one or more groups in our society at the expense of another, it is not.' The ruling adds that a trans woman can claim sex discrimination because they are perceived to be a woman. Antonelli, who is a member of the left-wing political party Más Madrid, went viral in February after a stirring speech in defence of trans rights in her country's parliament. She made history as the first publicly transgender person elected to the Cortes Generales. The former actress said: 'Trans people – we are everyone's topic of conversation. Everyone has to have an opinion about us. If we are trans, what we are, what we are not. She continued: 'Do we get surgery or not? Do we mutilate ourselves or not? Just leave us alone, for god's sake!' Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@ For more stories like this, check our news page.
