M77 motorway closed after one-car crash near Newton Mearns
A motorway near Glasgow has been closed in both directions for several hours following a single-vehicle crash. Police Scotland said one car was involved in the incident at about 00: M77 is shut between junction five at Newton Mearns, close to where the crash happened, and junction eight at Fenwick. Police have advised drivers to avoid the area.

Person taken to hospital after fire at sheltered housing
One person has been taken to hospital after fire broke out at a sheltered housing complex in Newton Mearns, East Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said crews found a "well-developed" blaze when they arrived at Mearnsview Court on Broomburn Drive on Friday appliances were sent to tackle a fire at a second-floor flat in a three-storey building after the alarm was raised at about 10:30. One person has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, while four others were treated at the scene.
