Nexstar 2025 Remarkable Women: Kayla Lumaye helps community get water
(NewsNation) — As the public works director for Biron, Wisconsin, Kayla Lumaye works to bring clean water to her community. That's why Nexstar, NewsNation's parent company, is recognizing her as a 'Remarkable Woman.' Friends, colleagues or family members nominate women they think have had an influence on public policy, social progress and quality of life in their community. In April, a total of 125 local market finalists were selected, which includes 11 local market finalists NewsNation chose from non-Nexstar markets. They get a trip to Los Angeles. The Nexstar Charitable Foundation will contribute $25,000 to a nonprofit selected by the one who is chosen as 'Remarkable Woman of the Year.' Dog rescued after 100-foot drop into Colorado canyon Lumaye, of Stevens Point, says she wants to make sure she is providing the safest water possible to customers and also that they have up-to-date infrastructure. For Lumaye, the most rewarding part of the job is 'definitely hearing from the residents that they appreciate the job I'm doing, that they have clean water, that we're keeping up with the parks.' It was Lumaye's sister, Cortney LaPage, who nominated her to be a Remarkable Woman. 'She perseveres no matter what,' LaPage said. (NewsNation) — Every year in March, NewsNation's parent company, Nexstar, celebrates Women's History Month by honoring 'Remarkable Women' across the country and recognizing one of them as the 'Nexstar Woman of the Year.' This is a nationwide initiative to honor the influence that women have had on public policy, social progress and the quality of life. We are celebrating women from across America who lead, inspire and forge the way for others to succeed. Meet the women who are changing lives in their community. Shari Pulliam has dedicated 35 years to child welfare, a chapter she began after the death of a dear friend. Inspired by her friend's remarkable legacy, Pulliam became a social worker to impact the lives of children. Nominated by her son, who was deeply moved by the impact Pulliam's had on their community, he shared that when it comes to Texas foster kids, his mom is fully committed. Pulliam hopes to inspire others to pay it forward. WSAV's announces 2025 Remarkable Women finalists
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — WSAV and the station's parent company, Nexstar, celebrate Women's History Month each March by honoring 'Remarkable Women' both in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry as well as across the country. The nationwide initiative, which started in 2019, honors the impact women have had on public policy, social progress, and quality of life in all 116 markets where Nexstar owns and operates television stations. Based on nominations with universally selected criteria including community contributions, self-achievement, and family impact, each market selects five local women for consideration as that market's 'Remarkable Woman.' Each market's 'Remarkable Woman' receives a $1,000 contribution on their behalf to a non-profit of their choice. WSAV's 2025 Remarkable Women Finalists are Angela Brantley, Patt Gunn, Courtney Hampson, Dr. Alicia Johnson and Maggie Smith. WSAV's Patty Turner will present profiles of the finalists every Tuesday on WSAV News 3 at 5:00 p.m. beginning Tuesday, March 4 through Tuesday, April 1 when our local winner will be announced. The winner will then join the other honorees in Los Angeles for a special 2-day event, where Nexstar's 'Woman of the Year' will be announced form the group. The Nexstar Charitable Foundation make a $10,000 contribution on behalf of the 'Nexstar Woman of the Year' to the non-profit organization of her choice.
