From Runway To Playlist: Chopova Lowena X Sony's Alto Bag Hits All The Right Notes

We live in a post-Covid world that - let's face it - is no longer arranged to see young, independent fashion brands glide gracefully to success. The odds are less runway, more obstacle course. In the midst of a cost-of-living crisis, dwindling sales and stockist pick-ups (never mind the Brexit-induced fees that have battered already stretched young business), designers entering the scene must now hustle harder than ever just to keep the lights on. Concrete solutions. No one's got them. And yet, as the storm clouds thicken, those who know how to build a full-spectrum brand universe - core community, watertight identity, evergreen products - stand a far better chance of keeping their boat afloat. Take Chopova Lowena, founded by Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena in 2017. The duo - the makers of fashion's most coveted kilts (sorry, Scotland) - have perfected the formula. Their charm-heavy, repurposed fabrics, and puckish punk-folk aesthetic have not only carved a very specific, Chopova-Lowena-shaped trench in London's fashion landscape, but also brought in a haul of accolades: several industry awards, the British Fashion Council/British Vogue Fashion Fund, and, crucially, a global fanbase. It helps that they've turned their idiosyncrasies into commercially magnetic product: carabiner kilts, yes, but also bags, perfume, scented candles, and a steady flow of collaborations. ©Chopova Lowena The latest notch in their belt? The Alto bag, created with Sony and designed specifically to carry the tech giant's WF-1000XM6 headphones. The partnership is as unexpected as it is oddly logical. Who made the first move? 'Sometimes it doesn't matter who made the first move,' they tell Grazia. 'Moves were made, and we ended up really happy together, and the Alto Bag was born! The end.' The Alto borrows from the brand's existing Sofia bag (' a bag made to hold all of your girlhood essentials in a fun way'), and adds a practical twist: it holds as much on the outside as on the inside, thanks to the Sony headphones attachment. 'We were excited by how much freedom we had to design fun accessories like the singing girl charm and clashing tartans. Designing it was fun and easy in a way because we felt an intrinsic need to have amazing headphones with us wherever we go; we are big on music as inspiration,' they say. ©Chopova Lowena X Sony The link clicks into place when you consider their tight-knit ties to the music world. Artists like Nia Archives, Fontaines D.C, and Charli XCX don't just wear the brand, they bring it on stage. So naturally, music was the invisible third party in the design process. And what was playing on their ears? 'Addison, the new Fever Ray remix album and Nia Archives,' they tell me. 'Of course, we made all of our design decisions with our current playlist blasting through our headphones.' And what if they were to put on their own festival, who would headline it? 'Addison Rae would be on at 6, and then System of a Down would headline. It would be a folkloric, strict dress-up code festival where you eat snacks and get drunk, but also feel good the whole time.' ©Chopova Lowena X Sony All of which makes their upcoming London Fashion Week show in September feel less like a seasonal presentation and more like the next chapter in an increasingly shrewd, self-sustaining fashion fairytale - kilts, clashing tartans, and now, the perfect soundtrack. All Together Now 2025: After Fontaines DC wowed the masses on Friday, CMAT is set to follow suit

Thousands of festivalgoers woke up in their tents at Curraghmore Estate, Co Waterford, on Saturday morning with sore limbs and even sorer heads, faced with a quick turnaround to get their second day at All Together Now under way. Some had called it a night soon after Fontaines DC's headline set on the main stage on Friday. The hillside of fans hooked on their every lyric – many in Bohemian FC's Fontaines tops – grew loudest when Grian Chatten, the band's frontman, declared 'f**k the far right' and 'free Palestine'. [ Fontaines DC at All Together Now 2025: Ferocious highs at all-conquering homecoming gig Opens in new window ] Others took that energy to the midnight techno set of the DJ Nia Archives, on the Lovely Days stage, and to electronic acts playing into the small hours. Those different approaches on Friday night might help explain why, on Saturday morning, you tended to see two types of people: those walking around with iced coffees and those walking around with cans. (Although we shouldn't forget the families who are here – fair play to the parents pulling their children around the hilly festival site in trolleys.) At the Bandstand, the audience sing Happy Birthday to a young girl called Emily who Tiernan's fellow comedian Tony Cantwell has brought up on stage. Then she shows us some of her karate moves. In Imro's Flourish tent, Bonya, a folk-infused acoustic group from Waterford, are catching the attention of everyone walking by. Everyone agrees on how well they sound. Photograph: Dan Dennison Up at the boutique campsite, no expense is being spared. The Sculpted by Aimee booth, in the Beauty Garden, is booked out for makeup on Saturday. That kind of glamour might be the exception rather than the rule. As people began to emerge from their sleeping bags on Saturday, they had formed dazed but vaguely orderly queues outside portaloos across the campsites. Early risers had remarked on how surprisingly clean the facilities were. The sheer number of people heading to use them dashed any hopes that they might stay that way for long. At least there's music to provide a distraction. One of the acts you hear people playing most around the campsites is CMAT, the Meath singer who's appearing on the main stage on Saturday, just a few weeks before the release of Euro-Country, her highly anticipated third album. Its song Take a Sexy Picture of Me and the album's title track have gone viral thanks to their catchy hooks decrying misogyny and lamenting the legacy of the crash of 2008. Sophie McAlpin, from Glasnevin in Dublin, is looking forward to the crowd joining CMAT in blaming 'all the big boys, all the Berties', for the financial meltdown that followed the boom years. Photograph: Dan Dennison All Together Now festival is also popular with families. Photograph: Dan Dennison She hopes they'll react to CMAT's lyrics as strongly as they did on Friday when Fontaines DC asked, in the line from their song I Love You, 'Is their mammy Fine Gael and is their daddy Fianna Fáil?'. 'I'm looking forward to her country roots, too, like Aw Shoot and I Wanna Be a Cowboy, Baby! I know there'll be a good buzz in the crowd for that,' says McAlpin, who first saw CMAT perform when she opened for Florence & the Machine at Malahide Castle in Dublin two summers ago. 'I saw her last year at Electric Picnic and didn't know who she was before it,' another festivalgoer says. 'She was easily the best act of the weekend.' With CMAT's sets at this year's Primavera and Glastonbury festivals having already shown how good she is at commanding a big crowd, her fans at All Together Now are in for a treat tonight.

The producer Harry Styles was seen kissing at Glastonbury has been pictured for the first time since their steamy night together. Ella Kenny was spotted grabbing some lunch in central London on Wednesday, four days after kissing Harry in the early hours. Harry Styles' new love interest Ella Kenny shares her first snap from Glastonbury posing with DJ Nia Archives and stylist who worked with singer's ex-girlfriend Taylor Russell - after THAT late night festival kiss

Ella Kenny has shared the first glimpse at her fun-filled Glastonbury experience, after she was revealed as the woman seen passionately kissing Harry Styles in the festival's VIP area over the weekend. The former One Direction star, 31, partied into the early hours with pals at Worthy Farm on Saturday, where he was seen getting very close to the 28-year-old producer. In a video obtained by The Sun, the pair can be seen sharing an intimate kiss on the dance floor, sending Harry's impassioned fans wild. And on Monday, Ella took her Instagram page public to share her first photo from her time at the festival, looking on cloud nine as she posed in the sunshine with her pals in a reposted snap on her Stories. The Bournemouth University graduate put on a leggy display in a pair of tiny black short and a simple white button-up shirt as she wrapped an arm around friends Nia Archives and Jessica Skeete-Cross. DJ and singer-songwriter Nia is a prominent star on the drum'n'bass scene, having been nominated for a Brit Award and Mercury Prize and opened for Beyoncé during her 2023 Renaissance tour. While Jessica is a stylist for ES Magazine, who has worked with big names like Maya Jama, Robert Pattison, Letitia Wright, Cara Delevingne and in an interesting twist - Harry's ex-girlfriend, Taylor Russell. Taylor and Harry dated for 14 months, reportedly striking up their romance in March 2023, before their split in May last year. During their relationship, the actress appeared on the cover of ES Magazine in November 2023, which Jessica styled and proudly shared to her Instagram. Ella is a producer who has worked at a studio in London for around three years, producing 'crossplatform content' for businesses such as record companies and fashion brands. She has worked alongside Nia, as well as produced music videos for artists such as Rachel Chinouriri, and Slow Thai, as well as Anne-Marie and Aitch's huge hit PSYCHO. His appearance at Glastonbury comes after he enjoyed a music festival in London's Victoria Park with pals earlier this month as his hiatus from the public eye continues. Harry was pictured in the crowd at LIDO festival, watching DJ Jamie xx as he headlined the battery-powered stage. Keeping a low-profile, the heartthrob appeared to be in good spirits as he sported a casual look of a navy hoodie underneath a blue jacket with a purple cap in the midst of the rainy weather. As the night progressed, he removed his hoodie to reveal a grey T-shirt which featured a giant emoji smiley face. He could also be seen enjoying the festival with Patience Harding, who worked on the design for his third studio album Harry's House. Harry - who has an estimated net worth of $140million - has kept a low-profile throughout 2025 as he enjoys time out of the spotlight since wrapping his Love On Tour tour in 2023. But in April, he sent fans into a frenzy when he was spotted in the Vatican to witness the announcement of the first American pope in the wake of a two-day papal conclave. He was the subject of a number of social media posts from fans excited to see him on the historic day.
