Owego man arrested as fugitive from justice out of PA after chase
BARTON, N.Y. (WETM) – An Owego man has been arrested as a fugitive from justice out of Pennsylvania after authorities say he fled from deputies after being found in the Town of Barton.
Nicholas R. Whitmarsh, 31, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 21, on a fugitive from justice warrant in addition to charges of resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration, as reported by the Tioga County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say they were called to a location in Barton after receiving an anonymous tip regarding Whitmarsh's potential location. Authorities were further informed that Whitmarsh had been spotted walking away from the backside of the property location.

After deputies spotted Whitmarsh, authorities say he attempted to run away on foot but was later taken into custody on Interstate 86 in Barton. He was then arrested on the above-listed charges.
Whitmarsh had his charges read to him in CAP court and was then placed in the Tioga County Jail. The sheriff's office received assistance with this case by New York State Police and the Waverly Police Department.
