WWE has a big LA Knight problem on its hands
SmackDown airs tonight (July 25) with a live show emanating from Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. This is the second episode of SmackDown during the three week build towards SummerSlam, which takes place on the weekend of August 2 & 3. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about what really happened with Seth Rollins' injury from a couple weeks ago at Saturday Night's Main Event. But regardless of which aspects of it are a shoot or a work, the bottom line is that LA Knight has no creative direction for SummerSlam now that Seth is on crutches and off WWE programming. The megastar does have some beef with Seth's henchmen Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, but those guys already have their SummerSlam plates full with Roman Reigns and Jey Uso. The PLE is here in just eight days, so LA needs to find a new creative plan ASAP in order to land a match on the two-night card. The megastar pretty much has to address this problem on tonight's episode of SmackDown. Will he confront General Manager Nick Aldis and propose an idea like beating former TNA Champion Joe Hendry in three minutes at MetLife Stadium? Or will another heel on the SmackDown roster force the issue by getting involved in LA's business tonight? Could LA be thrown into Jacob Fatu's story against Solo Sikoa's MFTs? Tune into SmackDown tonight to see what WWE is cooking up for the megastar, if anything, at the biggest party of the summer. Jelly Roll is back on SmackDown this week to continue his SummerSlam celebrity angle with Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, and YouTube douchebag Logan Paul. Roll has already taken one Claymore from McIntyre. Can Drew find a way to inflict even more punishment on Jelly tonight, or will RK-Roll send the heels packing? Andrade and Rey Fenix are the hottest tag team on the blue brand and have pretty much beaten all the non-champions. Now they go for the gold tonight against WWE Tag Team Champions Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy of the Wyatt Sicks. Is it time for the Wyatts to demonstrate that Fenix and Andrade are nothing special, just like all the other teams they've dominated on SmackDown? Will former champions Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins try to ruin the end of this title match? Alexa Bliss has a singles match tonight against WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Roxanne Perez. Whose ringside ally (Charlotte Flair or Raquel Rodriguez, respectively) will make the bigger difference in helping their partner win ahead of the title match at SummerSlam? - WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton defends the gold against Jade Cargill at SummerSlam. This story has lost some steam now that Naomi is gone from SmackDown after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract at Evolution 2. Jade and Tiffany only got the video package treatment last week, so WWE needs to come up with a compelling in-ring angle for them tonight. - WWE Champion John Cena and Cody Rhodes are not both under one roof tonight, because Cena is a part-timer who has better things to do than appear on this episode of SmackDown. Will Rhodes cut a promo on his SummerSlam opponent and reveal that he changed their rematch to a Street Fight because now he can do Sonic Booms and Flash Kicks? - Damian Priest tried to beat the shit out of Carmelo Hayes last week, but he was instead laid out by Aleister Black once again. Will Priest vs. Black be made official for SummerSlam? - Is Stephanie Vaquer available tonight to beat another member of Chelsea Green's Secret Hervice? - United States Champion Solo Sikoa thought he was so smart last week when he staged a car crash in an attempt to get Jacob Fatu locked up by the police. Fatu had the last laugh when the video evidence caused Solo's plan to blow up in his face. What kind of convoluted scheme will Solo concoct tonight to target Jacob now that they are scheduled to battle over the belt inside a steel cage at SummerSlam? - Kiana James was spotted on last week's episode having a conversation with Women's United States Champion Giulia. Will we find out what they were talking about? - WWE legend Hulk Hogan died yesterday at 71 years old. He's arguably the biggest star in WWE history, so there will surely be an appropriate remembrance of Hulkamania during tonight's show. - Where the f*** is Shinsuke Nakamura? Naomi used newly customized MitB briefcase to get a match at Evolution
Next Sunday's Evolution event from WWE may be rushed, but the latest addition to its card is part of a feud that's been going on since last fall — and that many expect to continue for the next several months. It came about after Naomi showed off the newest modifications to her Money in the Bank briefcase on the July 4 SmackDown. She did so by using it to clock Jade Cargill from behind after the Queen of the Ring winner and Trish Stratus paid their respects to one another and — now that the WWE Hall of Famer is back for a shot at Tiffany Stratton's WWE Women's championship on July 13 in Atlanta — teased a possible match at SummerSlam. Shoutout to Naomi for that cackle. She's fully embraced her anime supervillain character, and it's been pretty great. Advertisement The trainer's room conversation SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis promised Cargill in the above clip led to a match against Naomi at WWE's second all-women PLE. The tweet and graphic don't say it, but they said it on the broadcast and write-up confirms that this will be No Holds Barred (essentially No DQ). While Naomi's gotten the drop on Jade outside the ring several times since taking her out last November, their clashes in the squared circle have mostly gone Cargill's way (the exception being the Triple Threat Naomi won to qualify for Money in the Bank — but she pinned Nia Jax in that, not the former AEW star). The stipulation fits the nature of the feud, and should open up the playbook for producers as they lay out the latest match in Cargill's big singles rollout. It's probably not the end of this feud though... especially since Jade has a title match at SummerSlam, and Naomi still has that briefcase. WWE loads up SmackDown with Cena, Cody, Logan, Ripley, Americano, and so much more
It's WWE's turn to broadcast way too much damn wrestling content at once, with both Worlds Collide and Money in the Bank scheduled for this Saturday (June 7) in the Los Angeles area. That means this Friday's (June 6) episode of SmackDown in Bakersfield, California, is the go home show for both events. With that in mind, General Manager Nick Aldis posted the following video on social media today announcing that all the relevant top stars will be in the house. Advertisement The one match Aldis announced is a six-woman tag team match pitting Rhea Ripley, Stephanie Vaquer, and Alexa Bliss against Roxanne Perez, Naomi, and Giulia. These are the six women who have qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match, of course. He says the six men's Money in the Bank participants (Seth Rollins, Penta, El Grande Americano, Andrade, LA Knight, and Solo Sikoa) will also be in the building, and teased a significant confrontation between them. Finally, Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso are scheduled for Friday night's show, where they will confront WWE Champion John Cena and Logan Paul. These three wrestlers and one YouTube douchebag will square off in a tag team match at Money in the Bank. Is that enough star power to get you to tune into this Friday's three hour episode of SmackDown on USA Network? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders. Advertisement More from

Charlotte Flair Has Temper Tantrum On WWE SmackDown, Walks Out During Promo
It was a bad night for Charlotte Flair on WWE SmackDown. Charlotte Flair made her WWE return tonight for the first time since WrestleMania 41. The Queen went out to the ring to cut a promo before the live crowd. However, it didn't work out as she expected it to. Advertisement As Flair ran down her WrestleMania opponent, Tiffany Stratton, she began to explain her path back to the WWE Women's Championship. This was something the live crowd wanted no part of and got on her relentlessly. The reaction rattled Flair as she told the crowd she'd leave forever if they didn't show her some respect. The WWE Universe piled on, and Flair slammed the microphone down and stormed out of the ring. She was passed by Jade Cargill, who was on the way to the ring for her match, and told Flair on the microphone to get to the back of the line. Backstage, Flair bickered with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who told her she can't have a temper tantrum when things don't go her way. Flair tried to leave the building, but was stopped by Alexa Bliss, who suggested the two of them should have a chat.
