Broncos' updated 91-player roster after 2 moves this week
The Denver Broncos made two roster moves following their preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. First, the Broncos placed backup offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo (knee) on their season-ending injured reserve list. Second, Denver signed fullback Adam Prentice. The team now has 91 players on the roster going into the final week of preseason. The NFL's offseason roster limit is 90 players, but Denver gets an exception for an extra 91st player because punter Jeremy Crawshaw is designated as an international player. Once the 53-man roster is set, teams can use an international exemption for the 16-player practice squad. Crawshaw is set to serve as Denver's punter this year, so he's got a spot reserved on the active roster. So if the Broncos want to carry a 17th practice squad player in 2025, it will have to be a different international player than Crawshaw. With those notes out of the way, here's a look at the team's updated preseason roster, sorted by position. Each player's name includes a link to his Broncos Wire bio. Broncos preseason roster Broncos injured reserve Denver will trim the roster down to 53 players by Aug. 26, then build a 16- or 17-player practice squad. Last year, the team's initial practice squad included Burton, Tillman, Bailey and Badie. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Did you know: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Broncos offensive lineman carted off field with knee injury
Denver Broncos backup offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo went down in the third quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals and appeared to be in serious pain. Gargiulo's right leg was immobilized and he was carted into the locker room and quickly ruled out with a knee injury. Gargiulo (6-5, 310 pounds) was picked in the seventh round of last year's NFL draft out of South Carolina (and Yale before that). After failing to make the 53-man roster last summer, Gargiulo spent his rookie season on Denver's practice squad. He went into training camp this year looking to win a spot as a backup swing guard/center. With Gargiulo sidelined, the team's remaining center options are starter Luke Wattenberg, primary backup Alex Forsyth and undrafted rookie Joe Michalski. The team's backup guard contenders include Calvin Throckmorton, Will Sherman and Clay Webb. We should find out more about Gargiulo's injury in the coming days. Broncos offensive lineman carted off in preseason game against Cardinals
Broncos offensive lineman carted off in preseason game against Cardinals originally appeared on The Sporting News The Denver Broncos are clicking on all cylinders, though mainly with backups, against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night. The only blemish in the game looks like it will end up being a tough injury to a player looking to make the team. Nick Gargiulo, an offensive lineman drafted in the seventh round out of South Carolina last year, was carted off with an apparent knee injury. Scouring through posts on X, it's probably not a replay you want to go try and find. Gargiulo spent the 2024 season on the practice squad, but had made a push to be part of the roster this season. At worst, he would have been stashed on the practice squad again. Now, it looks like it could be a season-ending knee injury. The Broncos have already dealt with as many injuries in this preseason as they did most of last season. Matt Henningsen and Johnny Walker, Jr. have been lost to season-ending injuries and both Drew Sanders and Nate Adkins are likely to miss the beginning of the upcoming season.
