West Ham 2-0 Bournemouth: Hammers end pre-season tour on high with Jarrod Bowen on target
West Ham finished their pre-season tour of the United States with a comfortable 2-0 win over Bournemouth in Atlanta, Georgia. Graham Potter's side had a chance of winning the Premier League Super Series, but needed Manchester United to lose by at least three goals against Everton in order to do so. Ruben Amorim's Red Devils drew 2-2 with the Toffees to lift the competition's second title, but that does not mean that West Ham did not impress when it mattered. Club captain Jarrod Bowen and his strike partner Niclas Fullkrug were both on the scoresheet as Potter's Hammers got the better of Andoni Iraola's Cherries at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. Lucas Paqueta started and played 85 minutes in his first match since being cleared of spot-fixing charges earlier this week. Bournemouth dominated the ball for the most part, with 57% possession, and their talismanic striker Evanilson missed an absolute sitter when given a gilt-edged opportunity to put the Dorset club ahead in the first half. Marcus Tavernier and Hamed Traore both threatened for Bournemouth, and Ilya Zabarnyi, linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, rattled the crossbar with a header as West Ham survived an early onslaught. El Hadji Malick Diouf, the Hammers' new left wing-back, delivered a delicious delivery on 24 minutes which Bowen mishit, before Fullkrurg gobbled up the rebound to put Potter's side into an unlikely lead. Bowen doubled the advantage in the second half, with 67 minutes on the watch. Diouf again was the creator, carving out another stellar cross for the Irons' skipper to redirect back across goal and into the corner. Two wins from three Stateside for Potter. Positive, but more work needs to be done in the transfer market if they are to go into the new season with any kind of momentum.

West Ham blanks Bournemouth in Premier League US summer series

(EPA Images pic) WASHINGTON : Niclas Fullkrug and Jarrod Bowen scored to lift West Ham United over Bournemouth 2-0 on Sunday, giving the London side two wins from three matches in the Premier League Summer Series. Spot-on set up passes by Senegalese left back El Hadji Malick Diouf, signed only on July 15, led to both West Ham goals in the finale of their US pre-season tour at Atlanta. 'Both goals are down to him, the quality that he's got, you can see that,' Bowen said of Diouf. 'He has only been here a few weeks but you would think he has been here years. 'He's humble. He's a brilliant guy for the group and he's obviously a brilliant footballer as well. We're very excited to see what he can continue to do here.' Diouf's centering ball found England's Bowen in the box, but he was forced to slide a pass left to German teammate Fullkrug, who fired in a shot from point-blank range in the 24th minute. Bowen found the net in the 67th minute, taking a Diouf pass while making a run into the middle of the box then flicking a right-footed shot into the far left side of the goal. Bournemouth had plenty of chances in the first 15 minutes but found the woodwork to squander early opportunities. 'What I liked was the character about the group. We didn't have the best start we wanted but we stuck in there. We were together. We were a team,' Bowen said. 'That was one of the good things to see, the togetherness and the spirit when things aren't going as well at the start. You stick together, you motivate each other, you come through and you win the game.' West Ham lost 2-1 to Manchester United to open the round-robin friendly tournament but bounced back to defeat Everton 2-1. 'The positives are that we've had three really good, competitive games against Premier League opposition,' Bowen said. 'The Man United game, I thought we started slowly but put it a good positive performance and were unlucky to lose on the day.'
