#SHOWBIZ: 'Teman Sejati' marks as Nidji's first OST for animation film

KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian pop-rock band Nidji is honoured that their heartfelt single, 'Teman Sejati', has been chosen as the official soundtrack (OST) for 'Ejen Ali The Movie 2'. This marks their first-ever collaboration with an animated feature film. The song, from the band's latest album 'Manifestasi Hati' released earlier this year, was composed and written by Nidji's guitarist, Andi Ariel Harsya. It was originally penned in 2019, long before the band envisioned its future on the big screen. "Actually, the song had been written for quite some time, since 2019. So, when we were approached by the film production for the song to become an OST, we felt very honoured," said Andi when met at a press conference held at Balai Berita, here, today. He added, "When we recorded it, we never set a target for it to be chosen as an OST for any production, so this is beyond our expectations. It's really divine intervention." The track, with its stirring lyrics and soaring melody, perfectly complements the themes of friendship, courage, and resilience explored in the movie. Other band members — Yusuf Ubay, Randy Danishta, Ramadhista Akbar, Adri Perkasa, and Andro Regantoro — were also present at the event. Meanwhile, according to Azri Yunus, the film's score composer, music plays an equally vital role as the story itself in shaping a cinematic experience. "When a film is made, while 50 per cent of it is its story, the other half comes from its audio, including sound effects and music," he explained. "When I first heard this song from Nidji, it was a spot-on choice. From its lyrics to its melody, it's a perfect song as the film's OST." Azri, along with Usamah Zaid Yasin, founder of WAU Animation and creator of Ejen Ali, carefully integrated the song into the film by aligning it with pivotal scenes through detailed storyboard discussions. 'Ejen Ali The Movie 2', which premiered on May 22, sees Ali become the pilot for a high-stakes mission under Satria, an elite programme powered by an AI-assisted mecha suit. Once again set in the futuristic city of Cyberaya, this time Ali's mission takes a darker turn when the renegade Ejen Rizwan enlists Ali's help to uncover the true mastermind behind escalating threats in Cyberaya.

#SHOWBIZ: Music titans behind 'Ejen Ali 2 The Movie' soundtrack

'EJEN Ali The Movie 2' (EATM2) amps up its cinematic impact with not only thrilling animation and a more mature narrative but also three powerful original soundtrack (OST) songs. This epic musical dimension comes courtesy of collaborations with Malaysian music icon Datuk M. Nasir, Indonesian rock band Nidji, and popular singer Hael Husaini. These aren't just background tunes; the three tracks are integral to EATM2's emotional core, driving its momentum and reinforcing its positive messages. Covering themes from personal resilience and genuine friendship to the spirit of overcoming adversity, each song enriches the animated film's depth and resonance. M. Nasir's "Hanya Kamu" (Only You), penned with Azri Yunus and LunaAyla, is an empowering anthem urging youth to embrace self-belief. Fusing electronic sounds with M. Nasir's signature vocals, the song underscores personal struggle and unwavering strength in the face of darkness, mirroring Ejen Ali's internal conflicts. Nidji, the renowned Indonesian band, contributes "Teman Sejati" (True Friend) from their recent album. Chosen for its universal message aligning with EATM2's themes, the catchy pop melody and heartfelt lyrics celebrate the strong bonds uniting the agents as they confront formidable challenges, highlighting the profound significance of true friendship. Hael Husaini and Iqie Hugh's "Penjuara" (The Champion) is an electrifying and inspirational track. Combining modern electro-pop with motivational lyrics, the song embodies Ejen Ali's unwavering spirit as a 'penjuara' who bravely confronts the mental games of the antagonist, Neonimus. Its infectious beat and message of self-confidence are poised to become an anthem for Ejen Ali fans, always ready to forge ahead. The song has been playing on local radio stations Hot FM and Kool 101 and is also available on digital platforms. This blend of three distinct musical styles elevates the EATM2 experience. Through these cross-border music collaborations and high-calibre artistes, the film promises not only captivating visuals but also a deeper emotional connection woven through the power of its theme songs.

The Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts of Sarawak made the statement in a press conference following his attendance at the Nidji – Pelangi 2025 Concert at Stadium Perpaduan recently. 'The impact has already been visible since the beginning of this year when the state government organised the 2025 New Year's Eve concert here, featuring the renowned Indonesian singer Hetty Koes Endang. 'We observed a significant influx of vehicles from West Kalimantan. The three consecutive days leading up to the New Year at the CIQS Tebedu checkpoint were particularly congested. Many visitors were on holiday, and they were also aware that Hetty Koes Endang was performing at that time. Similarly, in Miri, when Nidji performed last year, there was a notable turnout from Brunei,' he explained. The concert, attended by nearly 3,000 people, also featured performances from local Malaysian artists, including The Beretta's, Zah Amirul, Bob Yunus, and Drama Band, alongside Nidji. Abdul Karim expressed his strong support for the local music industry, noting his desire to see success and confidence built by local artists through their performances at future festivals. 'We certainly encourage these efforts, and today I am incredibly proud to see that the organisers are involving local small businesses and incorporating traditional cultural elements into the event,' he said. The audience is captivated by the dynamic performances on stage during the event. Furthermore, he revealed that the Sarawak government is in discussions to bring a famous artist from the United States to perform exclusively in Kuching, with the event expected to take place in October. In addition, Karim announced that the legendary group Earth, Wind and Fire will be performing at the 2025 Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF). On a separate note, Abdul Karim highlighted the state's efforts to upgrade several potential eco-tourism destinations, such as the Sabal Forest Reserve, Gunung Gading, and Tanjung Datu, which will likely attract more visitors to Sarawak. 'All of these locations feature unique natural treasures. That is why we are focusing on improving the infrastructure at places like Sabal, Gunung Gading, and Tanjung Datu, including the development of chalets, which will draw tourists to Sarawak,' he said. 'Moreover, one of Sarawak's major eco-tourism attractions is its Natural Parks and National Parks. We have seen that tourists rarely miss the opportunity to visit the Orangutan Sanctuary, Bako National Park, and other such sites. These destinations play a significant role in attracting visitors to Sarawak.' Last Friday, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, announced plans for the state government to upgrade Sabal Forest Reserve as a nature tourism destination. He stated that the upgrade would include the development of modern accommodation facilities in the area to attract more visitors, particularly nature enthusiasts. abdul karim rahmah hamzah concert eco-tourism entertainment
