Q1 results today: HUL, Swiggy, Vedanta, Adani Enterprises on July 31
Hindustan Unilever, Swiggy, Adani Enterprises, Vedanta, PB Fintech, Maruti Suzuki India, Dabur India, Ambuja Cements, JSW Energy, and TVS Motor Company are scheduled to announce their earnings report for the first quarter (Q1) of the financial year 2025-26 (FY26) on Thursday. A host of other companies, Coal India, Dr. Lal PathLabs, Mackinnon Mackenzie & Company, Icra, Gillette India, JSW Holdings, Mankind Pharma, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Titan Intech, TVS Motor Company, are expected to declare their Q1 results today. HUL Q1 preview: Revenue expected to rise, profit likely to stay muted Hindustan Unilever (HUL), the maker of popular brands such as Horlicks, Dove, and Lifebuoy, is set to announce its April–June 2025 (Q1FY26) earnings today. Analysts expect the company's performance in the quarter to be weighed down by an unfavourable product mix, rising input costs, and muted seasonal demand, which may have softened overall growth. Revenue for the quarter is projected to grow 4.8 per cent year-on-year to ₹16,081 crore, up from ₹15,339 crore. Compared to the previous quarter, revenue is expected to rise 6 per cent, supported by healthy underlying volume growth (UVG). PB Fintech Q1 preview: Profit likely to surge, revenue expected to dip PB Fintech, the parent company of Policybazaar, is scheduled to announce its April–June 2025 (Q1FY26) results on Thursday. Analysts polled by Business Standard expect the company's net profit to soar 431.6 per cent year-on-year to ₹101 crore, compared to ₹19 crore in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter is estimated to grow 35 per cent year-on-year to ₹1,364 crore, up from ₹1,010.5 crore. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, however, it is likely to dip 9.6 per cent from ₹1,507.9 crore. Closing highlights from July 30 Indian equities edged higher on Wednesday, led by Q1 earnings-driven gains in select index heavyweights. L&T, NTPC and Asian Paints were among the top performers on the Sensex after posting their April–June 2025 (Q1FY26) results. The BSE Sensex ended 143.9 points, or 0.18 per cent, higher at 81,481.86, while the NSE Nifty50 settled at 24,855.05, up 34 points or 0.14 per cent. Broader markets underperformed, with the Nifty MidCap index slipping 0.07 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap index declining 0.52 per cent. Among sectoral indices, Nifty IT rose 0.31 per cent, Nifty FMCG 0.24 per cent, and Nifty Pharma closed marginally higher. On the downside, Nifty Realty dropped 0.96 per cent and Nifty Auto fell 0.6 per cent. Indian markets open lower amid IT, banking drag
CHENNAI: Indian stock markets opened on a weak note on Monday, July 28, tracking broad-based selling, particularly in IT and private banking stocks. The BSE Sensex fell 306 points, or 0.38%, to 81,155 at open, while the Nifty50 declined 93 points, or 0.37%, to trade at 24,744. Leading the losses were Kotak Mahindra Bank, which dropped over 6%, followed by IT majors TCS, Infosys, and HCL Tech. Other laggards on the Sensex included Bharti Airtel, Titan, and Bajaj Finance. On the positive side, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finserv, Ultratech Cement, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Steel, and Power Grid posted gains, lending some support to the benchmarks. The broader markets also saw weakness, with the Nifty MidCap index down 0.28% and the Nifty SmallCap index slipping 0.58%. Sectorally, the Nifty IT index was the worst performer, falling 1.4%, while the Nifty Private Bank and Realty indices also lost over 1% each. In the IPO space, the listing of SME issues Swastika Castal and Savy Infra is in focus. Meanwhile, new SME IPOs from Repono and Umiya Mobile opened for subscription. PropShare Titania's mainboard IPO enters its final day, while ongoing issues from Shanti Gold International, Sellowrap Industries, Shree Refrigerations, and Patel Chem Specialities continue into their second day. A host of other companies, including BMW Industries, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Nippon Life India Asset Management, Piramal Pharma, Waaree Energies, and RailTel Corporation of India, are also expected to declare their Q1 results today. Kotak Mahindra Bank Q1 highlights On Saturday, Kotak Mahindra Bank reported a 40 per cent year-on-year drop in consolidated net profit to ₹4,472.18 crore for the April–June quarter of FY26, primarily due to a one-time gain of ₹3,013 crore recorded in the same period last year. On a standalone basis, reflecting its core banking operations, the bank's net profit (excluding the previous year's one-time gain) fell 6.8 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹3,282 crore in Q1FY26, compared to ₹3,520 crore in the year-ago quarter. Net interest income (NII) rose 6 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹7,259 crore, while other income grew 5 per cent to ₹3,080 crore during the quarter. Cipla Q1 highlights On Friday, Pharma major Cipla reported a 10 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit at ₹1,297 crore for the June quarter of FY26, compared to ₹1,177 crore in the same period last year. Revenue from operations rose 3.2 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹6,837 crore from ₹6,627 crore, driven by strong growth in the consumer healthcare and generics businesses. Sequentially, revenue was up 3.6 per cent, while net profit grew 6.2 per cent. Q1 results highlights from July 25 Cipla: Pharma major Cipla reported a 10 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) rise in its consolidated net profit, which stood at ₹1,297 crore for Q1FY26, up from ₹1,177 crore in the same period last year. Revenue from operations grew 3.2 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹6,837 crore, compared to ₹6,627 crore a year ago. The growth in profit and revenue was driven by strong performance in the consumer healthcare and generic segments. On a sequential basis, revenue rose 3.6 per cent, while net profit increased by 6.2 per cent. SAIL: Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) posted a net profit of ₹744.6 crore for Q1FY26, registering a sharp year-on-year (Y-o-Y) increase of over 810 per cent from ₹81.8 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue from operations rose 8 per cent Y-o-Y to ₹25,921.8 crore, up from ₹23,997.8 crore in Q1FY25. The strong growth in profit was driven by improved operational performance and higher realisations. Sequentially, however, net profit declined from ₹1,251 crore in the previous quarter (Q4FY25), while revenue dropped by 12 per cent from ₹29,316.1 crore.
