Texas Tech softball is headed to its first-ever national championship
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (KMID/KPEJ) – No. 12 Texas Tech upset No. 2 Oklahoma 3-2 in a walk-off to advance to the national championship series. Star pitcher Nijaree Canaday threw all seven innings, totaling 106 pitches. She only allowed two runs off five hits while adding eight strikeouts.
The Red Raiders have now won 12-straight games as they prepare for the finals series, where they will meet No. 6 Texas. On the season, Tech has a 53-12 record to the Longhorns' 54-11.
The Women's College World Series is a best-of-three series being played at OGE Field at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Below is the series schedule:
Game 1: Wednesday 7:00 p.m. on ESPN
Game 2: Thursday 7:00 p.m. on ESPN
Game 3: Friday 7:00 p.m. on ESPN
Both teams are seeking their first-ever national championship title. This marks the 8th appearance for Texas and the 3rd out of the last four seasons.
