Leonie Fiebich finally giving Liberty a side of her game they've been pleading for
We've got you covered on the Liberty beat Join Post Sports+ for exciting subscriber-only features, including real-time texting with Madeline Kenney about all things Liberty and WNBA. tRY IT NOW Liberty wing Leonie Fiebich had grown tired of hearing about how she needed to shoot more since her return from EuroBasket. So in Tuesday's win over the Aces, Fiebich made a point to hunt for her shot, and it paid off in a big way. Advertisement Fiebich shot 6-for-11 from the field and 2-for-6 from deep for a season-high 15 points to help the Liberty to an 87-78 victory. Before Tuesday, Fiebich hadn't attempted more than six field goals in a game. She combined for just nine field goal attempts in her first two games back after EuroBasket. Fiebich is a selfless player, almost to a fault. She plays an important part in moving the ball and floor spacing within the offense. But she especially thrives on defense, and puts a lot of her focus and energy on that side of the ball. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST Coach Sandy Brondello doesn't have to worry about Fiebich taking a bad shot or going rogue in isolation. But Brondello had been encouraging Fiebich to not pass up good looks. Breanna Stewart noticed a change in Fiebich's approach in the first quarter. Advertisement 'She shot three shots within three minutes. I was like, 'OK, Leo's going to be aggressive today.' But that's what we need,' Stewart said. 'She's more than just a 3-and-D player. She can get into the heart of defenses and find and finish.' Scoring was just one area Fiebich stood out against the Aces. She also grabbed nine rebounds for the second time this season and blocked three shots. As far as a favorite personal highlight from Tuesday's game, Fiebich said she didn't have one. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST 'I just really care about what we do as a team,' Fiebich said. Advertisement Playing without two starters Tuesday, what the team needed from Fiebich was for her to be more assertive on offense, and she answered the call. Nike unveiled Sabrina Ionescu's third signature shoe Tuesday. Nike Sabrina 3 features several nods to Ionescu's roots and success. The embroidery and unique textile weaving was inspired by Ionescu's Romanian heritage, and the vertical, off-axis Swoosh symbolizes the 'glass ceilings Ionescu continues to shatter,' according to Nike. Ionescu said it's hard to believe she's developed her third signature shoe. 'Just being able to show up to games and look in the stands and see so many young boys and girls in my shoes, and being able to inspire them when they watch me play,' Ionescu said. 'I never really lose sight of the importance and significance of what I'm able to do while I'm playing basketball and inspiring. And obviously super excited to be able to debut the 3s here pretty soon and just keep that going.' Advertisement The Sabrina 1 and 2s have become some of the most popular sneakers worn by NBA and WNBA players. She hopes this new rendition will be as in demand as her first two. 'That's the goal,' she said.

Mavs' Kyrie Irving hints ‘absolutely' to Kobe-inspired sneaker
The post Mavs' Kyrie Irving hints 'absolutely' to Kobe-inspired sneaker appeared first on ClutchPoints. After scoring the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft and taking future franchise cornerstone Cooper Flagg, the Dallas Mavericks are confident about their chances to compete for a title in the next ten years. However, with All-Star Kyrie Irving expected to make a return at the start of 2026, the Mavericks have a chance to win now with a stacked lineup. Advertisement Check our Sneakers news for more upcoming releases and breaking content! Recently, Irving hopped on YouTube stream to answer questions from his viewers as he does from time to time. Irving touched on what makes a great shooting guard, some of his favorite books at the moment, and answered questions regarding his signature sneaker and lifestyle lines with sponsor ANTA. © Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images Eventually, a viewer asked Irving if he will ever drop a Kobe Bryant-inspired shoe, to which Irving responded: 'Absolutely I'm going to drop a Kobe-inspired shoe. I obviously have to work within the lines I'm given – shoutout to Vanessa [Bryant] and the girls, I do my best to make sure I show them love, show them support.' Advertisement Irving went on, 'We all miss Kobe. You've seen a lot of art pieces from peers of mine, including myself, paying homage towards him. We miss him dearly, any time I can create something that's Kobe-inspired I'll let you guys know that.' Irving has always been active in keeping Kobe Bryant's memory alive with his sneakers, rocking a number of Mamba-inspired colorways until his split from Nike in late-2022. While we have yet to see a Kobe-inspired colorway from his new sponsors over at ANTA, it's clear as to why designers may have to jump through some hoops to keep everyone at Nike happy as well. Still, knowing Kyrie Irving's creative nature, we're sure he'll come up with an imaginative way to honor Kobe Bryant with an ANTA twist. Irving will continue serving as the brand's Chief Creative Officer while he gears up for a hopeful return to the Mavericks in 2026. Nike, Sabrina Ionescu officially unveil the Nike Sabrina 3
The post Nike, Sabrina Ionescu officially unveil the Nike Sabrina 3 appeared first on ClutchPoints. It's difficult enough to have one successful signature sneaker, but New York Liberty franchise star Sabrina Ionescu is making history once again with her third standalone release with Nike. As the WNBA All-Star break from Indianapolis quickly approaches, Sabrina and Nike have introduced the latest Nike Sabrina 3 to the release calendar, coming just in time for the festivities in Indy. Advertisement Check our Sneakers news for more upcoming releases and breaking content! In 2023, Nike made Sabrina Ionescu just the 12th WNBA player in history with their own signature name-bearing sneaker. The Nike Sabrina 1 made history as the highest all-time grossing women's basketball sneaker, transcending gender and becoming the second most-frequently worn sneaker in the NBA. The Nike Sabrina 2 was even more powerful, cementing the signature line as a go-to basketball shoe for all levels constantly reinventing itself with new colorways. As the New York Liberty embark on the second half of their season, Sabrina Ionescu will celebrate her newest sneaker silhouette as she looks for an added boost to help her team's championship journey. Nike Sabrina 3 The Nike Sabrina 3 arrives in a simple, yet effective construction not too far off from its predecessors in the Sabrina 1 and 2. The shoes follow a similar low-top structure, but this time around we see a knitted upper with a Flywire lockdown system throughout the midfoot. With an updated Cushlon midsole, we see a return of the typical Nike Zoom outsole that made this shoe such a popular option in the first place. Advertisement Releasing in an orange and yellow 'All-Star' colorway on July 18, finer details reveal Ionescu's logo on the tongue as well as on the insole. Sabrina Ionescu's signature in inscribed on the back heel midsole, a subtle nod to the same detail seen on the Nike Kobe 8. The 'Blueprint' colorway will release on July 26, featuring blue and gold hues to go along with the Liberty's uniforms. The Sabrina 3 will retail for $135 and comes in full sizing. The shoes will see a public release on Nike SNKRS app and will be carried at all Nike Basketball retailers. Given the success of the two previous models, Nike should be in for another banger as they promote the WNBA's sneaker queen. Nike Sabrina 3 Features New Signature Specifications
The new Nike Sabrina 3 basketball sneaker for Sabrina Ionescu. Sabrina Ionescu's third signature basketball sneaker from Nike, the Sabrina 3, takes plenty of technology that has made it one of the go-to sneakers in the sport—for both female and male players—and adds to it with a new signature touch. While the underfoot cushioning of a forefoot Air Zoom unit and Cushlon 3.0 midsole ties to the previous model, the upper takes on a fresh approach. And it does so by tunneling. Mesh pleats in the upper offer up both a distinct style perspective for the silhouette but also house cables spanning the midfoot that provide enhanced containment, strength and support, Nike says. 'The Sabrina 3 builds on the consistency we've established with Sabrina's first two signature silhouettes while evolving the look and feel of the shoe to match her needs on the court and further reflect her personal story and style,' says Ben Nethongkome, lead designer for the Sabrina signature footwear franchise. 'The Sabrina 1 and 2 made her signature line a go-to choice for hoopers around the world, and we wanted to keep that standout performance and consistency while helping make Sabrina, and the athletes who wear her shoe, even faster, stronger and more confident in every step.' Sabrina Ionescu's new Sabrina 3. Nethongkome says the lightweight responsiveness of the Sabrina line now comes with even more security. 'I know every single basketball player who puts on the Sabrina 3 will continue to see and feel the work that we've put in to create the best performance shoe that we can,' Ionescu says. 'This shoe represents so much of me, from the vertical Swoosh that we've had since the Sabrina 1 to the design touches personal to me. I hope it inspires all hoopers, especially young girls, helping them continue to break down barriers and believe in themselves.' A new traction pattern emerges underfoot, with a concentric 'S' design meant to celebrate the shoe's signature namesake. The technology inside the Sabrina 3. Nike launched the Sabrina 1 in 2023, offering up a new model each year since. Nethongkome told me then that the design team had some ideas about how to start the process but relied on Ionescu to really lead the way. 'We have some scenarios in our back pocket,' he says, 'but we tested the waters a little bit in this case with Sabrina. Do you envision your style of play being more like this or like that? If it is like this, we use these toolkits.' The designers and the athlete settled on crafting a shoe for her style of play, which Nethongkome described as a 'shifty guard' that required a sneaker to keep her on her toes and be the conductor of her team. 'To be quick on her feet we had to look at toolkits for her style of play,' he says. The traction pattern on the Sabrina 3 features a concentric "S" design. The design, then, started from the hardwood up. Nike first used React foam underfoot coupled with a Zoom Air bag in the forefoot to promote quicker movements and decisions when on her toes. Instead of dropping a crash pad in the heel for landing, the Zoom Air in the forefoot focuses on quick movements. The cable concept has been part of the Sabrina franchise from the start, with the Sabrina 1 featuring lightweight mesh and localized cables to provide support. The latest model builds off the concept. For the Sabrina 3, launching July 24, expect Nike to promote a range of new colorways, materials and finishes meant to add another level of style to the technology of the Sabrina signature.
