Crumbl craze comes to Waterloo with first store opening in Waterloo Region

Waterloo got a little bit sweeter Friday morning with the grand opening of a new Crumbl location.
The popular dessert franchise specializes in picture perfect cookies, with a rotating menu each week.
'Every single week you get your cookie drop on Sundays,' explained co-owner Niki Condos.
'It creates a buzz and excitement for what we're going to be serving. Everyone looks forward to seeing what the next cookie is.'
Throughout the year, the company features over 250 creative cookies.

Dozens of people lined up hours before the opening, in hopes of getting their hands on their favourite flavours.
This week's menu includes Crumbl's signature semi-sweet chocolate chunk, strawberry skillet, birthday cake and dulce de leche.
Each cookie is roughly $7.
Friday's opening celebrated the first store in Waterloo Region.
'[I'm] born and raised here, worked here and we've hired a lot of great local kids that couldn't find jobs,' said Ted Siountres, the other owner.
The pair, who are brother and sister in-law, also opened a Guelph location back in April, marking the first Crumbl in southwestern Ontario.

After trying the cookies for the first time when visiting family in Florida, Condos said she knew she had to bring the tasty treats north of the border.
'We have had people reaching out to us for months, [asking] when are you opening?' she said.
The Waterloo store will be open Monday to Thursday between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., and 8 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
'Sundays we're closed because we have to rotate the menu,' Siountres said.
With everything made fresh daily, owners say customers should be able to try any flavour regardless of when they stop by.
'We constantly are having our mixers doing, our ovens going,' said Condos. 'So we're planning to have full cookie availability for everybody.'
