Dublin mum denies knocking woman to ground and pulling hair in supermarket attack
Nikita Murray (29) is accused of leaving the alleged victim with cuts and bruises following an assault
A woman has denied knocking another woman to the ground, pulling her hair and kicking her in an attack at a Dublin supermarket.
Nikita Murray (29) is accused of leaving the alleged victim with cuts and bruises following an assault. She is pleading not guilty and her case was adjourned at Blanchardstown District Court for hearing on a later date.
Ms Murray, with an address at Hillcrest Avenue, Lucan, Dublin, is charged with assault causing harm to a woman at Tesco, Hillcrest.
The court heard the incident was alleged to have happened on September 13 last year. Garda Sergeant Maria Callaghan said the DPP consented to the case being dealt with at district court level.
Investigating gardaí saw the alleged victim had soft tissue injuries afterwards
Judge David McHugh asked to hear an outline of the prosecution's case so he could consider the issue of jurisdiction. Sgt Callaghan said the accused and alleged victim were known to each other and there were 'issues over their young children.'
The woman alleged Ms Murray knocked her to the ground, grabbed her by the hair and kicked her. Investigating gardaí saw the alleged victim had soft tissue injuries afterwards – cuts and bruising.
Judge McHugh accepted jurisdiction, allowing the case to remain in the district court.
Defence solicitor Wayne Kenny said the case could go 'straight to a hearing date' and the judge set a date of March 11 next year, when the non-jury trial will take place.
The charge is under Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.
