Guard films woman inside washroom; arrested
1 2 Pune: The Hadapsar police on Thursday night arrested a 32-year-old security guard, Bhimashankar Charwadi, on the charge of video filming a 24-year-old college student on his mobile phone while she was in the washroom behind a bakery at Magarpatta around 2.30pm. Inspector (Crime) Nilesh Jagdale said the victim, after having snacks in the bakery, visited the washroom when the guard used his phone to film the woman from a broken tin shed. Jagdale said the woman noticed a movement and was startled to see Charwadi, a resident of Yadgir district in Karnataka, removing the phone. The bakery customers overpowered the guard after the woman raised an alarm and handed him over to the police for taking action, he said. The guard's phone was recovered for the purpose of evidence, he said, adding that a chargesheet was filed against him under the provisions of section 77 (voyeurism) of the Bharati Nyaya Sanhita before a magisterial court. 82-year-old killed after tempo hits her during morning walk
Pune: An 82-year-old was killed after she was hit by a tempo at Ravidarshan Chowk in Hadapsar while she was walking around 8.30am on May 22. The Hadapsar police identified the deceased as Vimlabai Agarwal, a resident of Akashwadi at Hadapsar. Inspector (crime) Nilesh Jagdale on Friday said the tempo driver was driving in a rash and negligent manner when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the victim during her morning walk when she was crossing the chowk. The accident critically injured her. Jagdale said the victim later succumbed to her injuries, following which her son registered an FIR against the tempo driver. The case was filed under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. A notice would be served to the driver, asking him to join the police in the investigations, he added.

Caregiver steals 14L from 98-year-old's account
1 2 3 4 Pune: The Hadapsar police are probing a shocking case in which a full-time caregiver allegedly stole a bank-linked SIM card belonging to a 98-year-old retired professor and transferred Rs13.92 lakh from his accounts. The complaint was filed by the professor's son, a consultant residing in Magarpatta. According to the police, the caregiver—who hails from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh—has been absconding since April 14. The victim, a retired professor from University of Madras, receives a monthly pension of Rs84,000. He had been under the care of a professional hired through a private agency. Inspector (crime) Nilesh Jagdale, the investigating officer, said, "The complainant discovered the SIM card missing on April 19. At the mobile store, he was told the original SIM was still active. He then checked his father's bank accounts and found that Rs13.92 lakh had been transferred to the caregiver." Investigations revealed that the accused had used the SIM card to create a UPI ID in the professor's name and carried out online transactions from three different banks.
