Nilüfer Yanya Announces New EP Dancing Shoes, Reveals New Song 'Where to Look': Stream

The post Nilüfer Yanya Announces New EP Dancing Shoes, Reveals New Song 'Where to Look': Stream appeared first on Consequence. Nilüfer Yanya is back to announce a new EP, Dancing Shoes, set for release on July 2nd. She's also unveiled the new song 'Where to Look.' Dancing Shoes follows Yanya's 2024 album, My Method Actor, which we deemed one of the best releases of the year. Comprised of four new tracks, Dancing Shoes was written and produced with Yanya's close collaborator Wilma Archer during and in between tour dates supporting My Method Actor. The EP also features 'Cold Heart,' which arrived last month. Get Nilüfer Yanya Tickets Here Reprising her raw, spellbinding guitar work and considered attention to mood and atmosphere, 'Where to Look' has all the touchstones of Yanya's dynamic indie rock sound. The song really begins to lift off in the second chorus, where Yanya's guitar stumbles into a wall of fuzzy reverb and provides more power and emotion behind her croons. While the EP it's on is called Dancing Shoes, 'Where to Look' isn't exactly dancefloor-friendly, instead boasting a more introspective tone. Stream the track below. Yanya has a busy 2025 ahead of her; in addition to a busy summer performing at festivals like Glastonbury and London's All Points East, she'll return to North America for a lengthy stretch of shows opening for Alex G. She'll then head back to Europe for a handful of dates opening for Lorde. See her full list of tour dates below, and get tickets to see Nilüfer Yanya here. Dancing Shoes Artwork: Tracklist: 01. Lorde's Ultrasound World Tour Presale Is Already Starting

What comes after Lorde summer? It's looking like Lorde fall. Not long after releasing her highly-anticipated album Virgin in June, the New Zealand artist will hit the road across the U.S., U.K., and Europe from September 17 through December 9. If the energy of her impromptu Washington Square Park performance is anything to go off of, fans can probably expect to be surprised when Lorde takes the stage. 'Every show I play is a collaboration between you and me,' she wrote in a letter to fans. 'We meet in a room and we make music together, our bodies and the machines in search of something bigger together. 12 years of meeting up and making sound that's just for us. Since last time I've been stripping away unnecessary layers, finding us more room to move. I think that Ultrasound could be our masterpiece. Very proud and excited to be bringing my most talented friends in support.' Lorde has a handful of cool musicians joining the circuit with her, including Blood Orange, The Japanese House, Nilüfer Yanya, Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Jim-E Stack (who co-produced Virgin), and Oklou. After a surprise one-song concert at the makeshift Greenwich Village venue — that was delayed by the police — the two-time Grammy winner has announced her 'Ultrasound World Tour' in support of her forthcoming fourth studio album 'Virgin,' due out June 27. Midway through the North American leg of the international run, the 'What Was That' singer will headline at a slightly bigger Big Apple venue when she takes center stage at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Advertisement 'Every show I play is a collaboration between you and me,' the 28-year-old New Zealander shared in an email with fans. 'We meet in a room and we make music together, our bodies and the machines in search of something bigger together. 12 years of meeting up and making sound that's just for us. Since last time I've been stripping away unnecessary layers, finding us more room to move. I think that Ultrasound could be our masterpiece.' On select dates, she'll be joined by special guests Blood Orange, The Japanese House, Nilüfer Yanya, Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Jim-E Stack, and Oklou. At the MSG gig, The Japanese House and Chanel Beads will serve as the opening acts. Fans Disciples can purchase tickets for all upcoming North American Lorde shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for the 'Ultrasound World Tour' is Friday, May 16. 'Team' Lorde new music Advertisement On April 24, Lorde released the first single 'What Was That' from the upcoming album 'Virgin.' The 3.5-minute track starts small with a sparse ping pong-y backbeat behind Lorde's laid back vocals. Around the 45-second mark, 'What Was That' begins building to a fever pitch with urgent, vivid lyrics like 'MDMA in the back garden, blow our pupils up/We kissed for hours straight, well, baby, what was that?' detailing a confusing relationship. Before you know it, the bop has gone full-blown dance pop. Consider 'What Was That' an early contender for song of the summer. If you'd like to hear for yourself, you can find 'What Was That' here. About the record, Lorde said 'I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A DOCUMENT THAT REFLECTED MY FEMININITY: RAW, PRIMAL, INNOCENT, ELEGANT, OPENHEARTED, SPIRITUAL, MASC.'
