Marcos honors courage and sacrifice of OFWs in Al Khobar
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has extended his gratitude and recognition to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) staying at the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) Bahay Kalinga in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
The President's message was personally delivered by Nina Romualdez, who conveyed his admiration for the resilience and determination of Filipino workers abroad.
In his message, President Marcos praised the OFWs for their courage in overcoming challenges and striving for success.
'The President salutes you, and for him, nothing is more important than your safety. Even in the middle of the desert, you can be assured that there will always be people ready to come to your aid,' the message read.
A total of 16 OFWs (eight women and eight men) are set to be repatriated on August 18 after securing their exit visas.
Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator PY Caunan assured that the returning workers will receive immediate financial assistance through the AKSYON Fund and the Emergency Repatriation Fund (ERF). Each will also be provided with luggage and grocery packages.
Meanwhile, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Secretary Ada Colico offered livelihood reintegration programs to help the returning OFWs rebuild their lives once back in the Philippines.
