Navy hosts 13 nations in naval working group meeting to boost maritime security
In a bid to boost regional cooperation, the Indian Navy hosted the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Working Group Meeting on Maritime Security (IWG-MARSEC) on June 24 and 25 in New meeting brought together representatives from 13 IONS member nations: Australia, Bangladesh, France, India, Kenya, Mozambique, Oman, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and IWG-MARSEC serves as a key platform for dialogue and cooperation among navies in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).advertisement
Rear Admiral Nirbhay Bapna, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation & Intelligence), reaffirmed India's commitment to regional maritime security and highlighted the importance of multilateral efforts to tackle evolving challenges at discussed ways to enhance information sharing, boost Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), and strengthen coordinated responses to emerging threats.
