Pune's Sardar Dastur Hoshang Boys' High School pedals for greener tomorrow on Independence Day
This Independence Day, Sardar Dastur Hoshang Boys' High School in Pune hosted a spectacular freedom cycle ride under the theme 'From their Sacrifice to our Responsibility — Pedal for a Free Green Future and Healthy Generation'.
At the helm was Dr Bhausaheb Karekar, Secondary Education Officer, Pune district, who pedalled along with School Principal Nisha Sahay and staff members on Friday. The students rode through the heart of the city, turning heads and sparking discussions about environmental conservation, fitness, and civic responsibility.
The participants embodied the event's powerful message: in today's India, true freedom is a pollution-free, green nation and a healthy, fit generation.
The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as cheers rang out, flags waved high, and the wheels kept spinning in tribute to the heroes who secured our freedom.
Team Sunrisers, a cycling group based out of Pune, ensured flawless coordination, safety, and smooth flow throughout the event.
At the close of the ride, Dr Karekar emphasised the importance of a healthy mind that resides in a healthy body.
Principal Sahay encouraged the students to appreciate the roles of India's nationalist leaders in the freedom that is enjoyed by current generations.
'Our freedom fighters gave their all for our tomorrow. Today, we must honour them by protecting our planet and living with purpose, passion, and responsibility,' she said.
