Man injured in house fire in Beaufort

BEAUFORT: A house in Kampung Suasa was completely destroyed in a fire on Tuesday, leaving one male occupant injured while attempting to rescue others. The victim, identified as Sailin Kanalan, sustained burns during the incident and was subsequently taken to the Padas Damit Clinic for medical treatment. According to Beaufort Fire and Rescue Department chief Ishak Jabas, the department received an emergency call at 3:15 p.m. and promptly dispatched eight personnel along with a fire engine to the scene. 'Upon arrival at 3:47 p.m., firefighters found the 30-by-40-foot structure already 90 per cent destroyed by the fire,' he said. Several vehicles were also consumed by the flames, including a Proton Iswara, Proton Saga BLM, Nissan Vanette, and a Modenas Kriss motorcycle. Another Modenas Kriss motorcycle sustained approximately 10 per cent damage. Two injured, 21 houses destroyed in fire at Sandakan water village
About 21 houses destroyed in thr fire at a water village at Kampung Batu Putih in Sandakan. SANDAKAN(April 23): Two people suffered burns on their hands when attempting to put out a fire which destroyed 21 wooden houses in a water village at Mile 7, Jalan Sk Batu Putih, Kampung Batu Putih, here on Wednesday. A spokesperson from the State Fire Department said 21 wooden houses, which were built close to one another on a three-acre land, were destroyed in the 10.40am incident. The spokesperson said two people suffered burns on their hands while putting out the fire and were given treatment at the scene by EMRS personnel. Firefighters managed to control the blaze by 11.47am and the operation only ended at 2.14pm, said the spokesperson. Firefighters carrying out investigation after the shophouse was destroyed in the fire at Kg Suasa in Beaufort. Although no untoward incident was reported, the fire was believed to have started from one of the houses before it spread quickly to adjoining houses. All the fire victims are being placed at a nearby community hall while the actual cause of the fire and total loss are still under investigation. Meanwhile, an elderly man suffered burns while fleeing his shophouse at Kampung Suasa in Beaufort on Tuesday. A spokesperson from the State Fire Department said the 61-year-old man sustained burns on his body while fleeing the shophouse with his family when the fire broke out at 3.15pm. The fire also destroyed five vehicles, a Proton Iswara, Proton Saga BLM, Nissan Vanette van, and two Kriss Modenas motorcycles. Firefighters managed to control the fire by 4pm before the operation ended at 5.30pm. No untoward incident was reported while the cause of the fire and total loss are under investigation, said the spokesperson.

Beaufort Fire and Rescue chief Ishak Jabas said several vehicles were also damaged in the 3.15pm incident. Firefighters arrived at 3.47pm to find the 30'x40' house 90pc destroyed. Vehicles lost in the fire included two Proton cars, a Nissan Vanette, and a Modenas Kriss motorcycle, while another motorcycle was partially burnt. The injured man, Sailin Kanalan, was hurt while trying to rescue others and was treated at Padas Damit Clinic.
