Residents voice concern after sighting of wild boar at Taljai Hill

1 2 Pune: Residents living in the vicinity of Taljai Hill near Sahakarnagar have voiced concern over the sighting of a wild boar in the area on Monday morning. They have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) authorities to check whether there are other wild boars on the hill. "Many morning walkers visit the hill daily and wild boars can cause harm to the visitors. Attacks on people cannot be ruled out," said Nitin Kadam, a local activist. The PMC official said they would visit the site and take necessary measures in association with the forest department. Around 650 acres of the hill are under the jurisdiction of the forest department and 400 acres under PMC. A fire had broken out on the hill in Feb this year. Amey Godse, an environment lover, said, "Though the forest is a natural habitat for the boar, it is surprising to see it in Taljai. The animal is very aggressive and the possibility of it attacking humans cannot be ruled out. So, if a wild boar was found at Taljai, the morning walkers should be more vigilant." "It is a good sign that the boar was seen. Citizens as well as the authorities should create more awareness about the presence of the animal," said Sanjay Athavale, an environment lover. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Compare Spreads: Bitcoin vs Ethereum CFDs IC Markets Learn More Undo Residents said citizens from Sahakarnagar, Satara Road, and even from Wadgaon areas visit Taljai Hill daily. They will take necessary steps for deploying agencies to catch the boar," said Ashok Ghorpade, head of PMC's garden department.
