Cleveland Browns Tight End David Njoku Ranked Outside Top 10
Cleveland Browns Tight End David Njoku Ranked Outside Top 10 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns have an interesting situation at tight end. David Njoku will enter his ninth season in the league at a cost of nearly $11.5 million to the team. Last season, the University of Miami product posted 505 yards on 64 catches with five touchdowns in just 11 games. Advertisement The former Hurricane was plagued by ankle, knee and hamstring injuries that kept him out of six games and slowed him in several appearances. It also didn't help that there's been a revolving door at quarterback in Cleveland over the past two seasons while Deshaun Watson continues to be injured. Pro Football Focus ranked Njoku at No. 15 in their list of the top tight ends as we approach 2025. 15. David Njoku, Cleveland Browns "After a breakout 2023 season in which he caught 88 passes for 975 yards, Njoku dealt with injuries and a shuffling quarterback room in Cleveland on his way to a career-low 64.0 PFF overall grade this past season. If he can stay healthy with stability at the quarterback position in 2025, expect the athletic big man to flirt with 1,000 yards for the first time in his career." Advertisement Njoku made the Pro Bowl in 2023 after 882 yards on 81 catches and six touchdowns. It's that kind of form that he needs to return to so the Browns can justify that salary. He also enters 2025 with only void years left on his deal. Match that with the fact that the Browns drafted Bowling Green tight end Harold Fannin Jr. this season in the third round, and Njoku could be sharing playing time with the rookie. It's a complicated formula that might see Njoku's days numbered in Cleveland. NFL Trade Pitch Has Broncos Land Another Pro Bowl Tight End
One of the Denver Broncos' biggest needs entering the offseason was at tight end after lacking a real threat at the position last year. They addressed that in free agency by signing former Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram. That move appeared to solidify the position, but Denver may still be looking to add another weapon. Teams with multiple talented tight ends have shown the effectiveness of two tight end sets. The Ravens have used Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely successfully, while the Patriots found success with Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett. Advertisement With coach Sean Payton, rookie quarterback Bo Nix, and Engram already on board, a two tight end approach could elevate Denver's offense. A potential target for Denver is Browns tight end David Njoku. He has been one of Cleveland's top receiving threats in recent seasons, earning a Pro Bowl nod in 2023. Despite playing in only 11 games last season due to injury, he recorded 64 catches for 505 yards and five touchdowns. At 6-foot-4 and 246 pounds, Njoku is a dynamic pass catcher with strong hands, athleticism, and an ability to break tackles. His large catch radius and contested-catch ability would make him a valuable red zone target for Nix. Additionally, Njoku is a solid blocker, which would help Denver disguise its offensive plays. Advertisement Pairing Engram and Njoku would challenge opposing defenses. Many teams use two-tight end sets primarily for blocking in the run game, but Engram and Njoku are legitimate receiving threats, making play-calling unpredictable. Acquiring a second tight end, especially one as talented as Njoku, could make Denver a more physical team while opening up both the run and pass games. Payton, known for his offensive creativity, could maximize the duo's potential. A trade for Njoku isn't out of the question. The Browns, facing uncertainty at quarterback and playing in a competitive division, may be open to moving the 28-year-old veteran on an expiring contract. Njoku has only played in three postseason games in his eight-year career, and if Cleveland enters a rebuild, he may prefer a team on the rise. Advertisement Denver would need to make an enticing offer, likely involving draft picks. Given Njoku's age and injury history, a third- or fourth-round pick and a late-round selection could be a fair price. Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (85).© Scott Galvin-Imagn Images If Cleveland prefers a player in return, options could include quarterback Jarrett Stidham, running back Audric Estime, or defensive end Jordan Jackson. Stidham has flashed potential in limited opportunities and could interest the Browns, who face uncertainty at quarterback. Estime, a promising rookie running back, could also appeal if Denver upgrades its backfield elsewhere. Jackson, a young defensive end with upside, could be another trade chip. Advertisement A trade would benefit both sides. Denver would add another offensive weapon, while Cleveland would gain assets for a rebuild. If the Broncos pursue Njoku, striking a deal before the draft would allow them to use their picks strategically and fill any remaining roster holes. Principal revives NYC middle school with podcasting curriculum
(NewsNation) — Two years ago, New York City's P.S. 224 was set to be closed. But principal Uche Njoku revived the school by attracting students with an original curriculum focused on new media, such as podcasting. 'I was asking myself, why are the kids more engaged in their cell phones than with us as teachers in the classroom? Social media. So, I decided to take what has been the bane of our existence to be something productive,' Njoku told NewsNation. The students now produce 'The Best Middle School Podcast' out of their media hub. In the time since the podcast began, the school has adopted full-fledged media classes. Njoku said incorporating podcasting, graphic design and filmmaking into students' education has them 'hooked.' Education Department says 60 universities under investigation for antisemitism 'Whenever we get the chance to meet new people, it's kind of like a learning experience because then they tell us more about their background and where they came from,' student Maryoli Roque said on 'Morning in America.' Roque — one of the podcast's hosts — said working on the program has 'created an environment for us to learn more but also do something that we like.' Her favorite guest to speak with was Meisha Ross Porter, who served as New York City Schools chancellor in 2021. 'Being able to talk to a female who also grew up in the area is kind of, like, important to me,' Roque said. Education secretary: Mass layoffs first step toward total shutdown Njoku hopes to see immersive media studies appear in more schools nationwide because he believes education should meet children where they're at technologically or risk losing their interest altogether. 'It's very important that we stop teaching 'yesterday,'' Njoku said. 'Technology is here, and it's not just about putting laptops with kids, it's about actually engaging in the medium.' He previously told NewsNation local affiliate PIX11 that the school's next goal is to convert an upstairs classroom into a TV studio. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Innovative media program rejuvenates school in the Bronx
BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — One Bronx principal turned around a failing school with a new program that included a podcast and TV studio. At Exploration and Discovery at P.S. 224, the principal and his team created a podcast studio and media hub. Move over Joe Rogan. 14-year-old Miley Roque is one of the hosts of this new podcast. All of the shows are done by students for students. More Local News It's a weekly podcast called 'The Best Middle School Podcast.' Their principal, Uche Njoku, says he always thought if you built it they would come. The students love it. He transformed what used to be an old music room, now a state-of-the-art media hub. Njoku was a film major in college and never thought 25 years later when he became a principal here that it would be the breakthrough he was looking for for his students. Njoku says the new program is bringing the community and students together, empowering them to learn the ABCs of the future: arts, broadcasting, and communications. It's a great pathway to being their best in high school and then college. Two years ago, the school was on the closure list. Njoku says with no funding, he reached out to local partners and created a digital communications program. The rest is history. The next dream is converting an upstairs classroom into a TV studio and need partners to make that happen. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
