Kim Kardashian arrives at Paris court with mum Kris Jenner for £12 million burglary trial

Kim and Kris arrived at the Palais de Justice court in Paris for the trial. Kim Kardashian has arrived at a court in Paris ahead of a £12 million burglary trial. She was accompanied by her mother Kris Jenner before the pair walked inside the courtroom having been flanked by paparazzi, police and onlookers. The pair turned up to the Palais de Justice court in Paris, to testify about the robbery ordeal in her hotel room almost nine years ago. Ten people are on trial in Paris, accused of robbing the celebrity. ‌ Kim was allegedly held at gunpoint at a Parisian hotel in October 2016 by robbers dressed as policemen. They reportedly stole $10m (£7.5m) in jewellery and cash, and a $4m engagement ring. ‌ Kardashian has since spoken about the trauma the incident caused her, and court has heard that she has increased her security detail since the robbery. Two of the defendants, Yunice Abbas and Aomar Ait Khedache, admit the charges. The rest deny them. The five robbers used a night receptionist to gain entry to Kardashian's room. The man on shift, Abderrahmane Ouatiki, was also forced to act as an interpreter between the gang and Kardashian. At a previous day in the trial, the court was told by Ouatiki's lawyers that the receptionist was left scarred by the events of October 2016 and that he suffered from PTSD. "He suffered from the way the heist was romanticised and by the way the robbers are being described as 'grandpa robbers'. That's not what he saw - he just saw robbers," one of his lawyers said. ‌ On Monday, Ouatiki said the American star was "completely hysterical" and "in a state of complete terror" as a "very nervous" man pointed a gun at her. "He was very aggressive and she was utterly terrified," said Ouatiki. The robbers are known at the "grandpa robbers", due to the older age of most defendants. ‌ Most of the alleged participants in the robbery were born in the 1950s, leading French media to dub them the "grandpa robbers". One has since passed away, and another, aged 81, will be excused as he is suffering from advanced dementia. ‌ The burglary took place at the Hotel de Pourtalès, or the No Address hotel, where Kim Kardashian stayed in October 2016. The hotel is comprised of a series of nine luxury suites and two rooms. Its website claims it's "more confidential" than a luxury hotel, and offers an unrivalled privacy. Services include bodyguards on request, chauffeurs, and day and night concierge teams. ‌ You must book for a six night minimum, with the cheapest rate coming in at £1,345 per night. But not everybody can book, you must rich, famous or referred by other celebrities. Vanity Fair reported that it had lax external security and no CCTV cameras for guests to enjoy maximum privacy, and a door code known to many as it hadn't been changed in years.

He Helped Rob Kim Kardashian at Gunpoint, Then Wrote a Book About It — and Now He 'Regrets It'

One of the suspects on trial for the armed robbery of Kim Kardashian during Paris Fashion Week in 2016 has publicly admitted to his involvement in the crime and is now saying he regrets the trauma it caused. 'I regret it, not because I got caught, but because ... there was a trauma,' Yunice Abbas, 71, testified in court on Tuesday, April 29, per NBC News. Abbas co-authored the 2021 book I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, in which he identified himself as one of the robbers behind the heist. Since then, Abbas has testified that he had no role in choosing the title of the book, which he claims misrepresents his actions. He claims he wasn't in the reality star's hotel room at the No Address hotel in Paris and instead kept watch in another area, NBC reported. According to the Associated Press, Abbas' book revenue is suspended pending the result of the trial. Abbas is one of 10 people on trial facing charges in connection with the heist, which resulted in Kardashian being held at gunpoint and tied up as five masked men robbed her of jewelry worth nearly $9 million in October 2016, according to the New York Times. A source close to the reality star told PEOPLE in 2016 that she managed to escape after wriggling her hands out of the zip ties. A second source told PEOPLE that Kardashian then "screamed from the balcony" for help. Related: Kim Kardashian Worries She's 'Turning into a Full Robot' with 'No Emotion' After Surviving 2016 Paris Robbery Kardashian has said the robbers took two diamond Cartier bracelets, a gold and diamond Jacob necklace, Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, a gold Rolex and other items during the heist, according to French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche. A $4 million ring gifted to her by then-husband Kanye West was also among the items stolen. According to the Times, most of the stolen jewelry has never been recovered. French police initially arrested 17 suspects across France in connection with the armed robbery in January 2017. Half of the 10 suspects currently on trial are considered alleged accomplices. One of the men indicted by prosecutors is the younger brother of Kardashian's Paris chauffeur. The group has been dubbed the "Grandpa robbers" by French media due to their older ages and previous criminal history, according to ABC News. Related: Kim Kardashian West's Paris Heist: Everything to Know In court on Tuesday, Abbas also spoke about his time behind bars for crimes including a previous armed robbery in Belgium, according to NBC News. The outlet reported that Abbas further claimed he turned to theft due to bad influences and to provide for his children. Kardashian, 44, is expected to testify in person at the trial, PEOPLE learned last month. She previously said she believed the perpetrators tracked her via social media. 'I was Snapchatting that I was home and that everyone was going out," she explained in a 2017 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. "So I think they knew Pascal [her bodyguard] was out with Kourtney and that I was there by myself." Read the original article on People

Alec Baldwin, Billy Baldwin 'battling' with brothers over political differences

Billy Baldwin admits it "used to be a lot easier" to keep the peace in their famous family, and says he and his brothers are "battling." As the second-youngest of the four Baldwin brothers, Billy told Fox News contributor Raymond Arroyo on his "Arroyo Grande" podcast this week that they "try" to put politics aside, but aren't always successful. "We live in a new age," Billy told Arroyo in the podcast episode posted on Wednesday. "This isn't like 'Let's fight over, you know, Reagan and Iran-Contra.' You know, we live in a different world where — when I worked on the Hill, Bob Dole was the Senate Majority Leader and Tip O'Neal was the House Speaker, and everyone talked about gridlock and how nothing got done back then when I was working on the Hill. Well, those were the good old days." Billy describes himself as a "Hollywood lefty." His brother Alec also aligns with the Democratic Party, while oldest brother Daniel and youngest brother Stephen are Trump supporters. "Alec and I don't even talk," Daniel admitted two months ago on the "PBD Podcast," while saying that he and Billy were arguing about politics during the last election. Billy told Arroyo, "Forget brothers and sisters. I mean, members of opposite parties, members of the same party aren't even talking to each other. We need a healing. We need a healing." "Forget brothers and sisters. I mean, members of opposite parties, members of the same party aren't even talking to each other. We need a healing." He said that Robert Marbut, President Donald Trump's former homelessness czar, was brought on as a producer and consultant for his upcoming film about the homelessness crisis, "No Address." "And we've all been working very closely with him, and we've been going around the country with the film, with the documentary, doing panels, discussions, talking to think tanks, and they marvel at the fact that he's a [former] Trump Cabinet member, and I'm a Hollywood lefty, and we're finding commonsense. We're finding consensus, and we're totally respectful, and we're treating each other with dignity," Billy said. He continued, "And not shockingly — I've always known this — we agree way more than we disagree, but in this culture right now, with the media pitting sides against each other when I talk about many, many issues, when I talk about homelessness, when I talk about climate change, when I talk about gun control, when I talk to people who are big, big 2A people and I ask them five or six questions… we realize we agree on, like, 80% of this issue." He said that sometimes his family doesn't get together over the holidays because of their political differences. "That's happened in my family, yeah," Billy told Arroyo. "And I've gone to gatherings on the [his wife Chynna] Phillips' side of the family where people got together and there was sort of mixed opinions there, too — not as polarizing as other settings I've been in — but yeah, you read it all the time." Billy said it's interesting with the old adage, "Don't talk religion or politics: Now they completely intersect." He also noted that he and his wife had wildly different upbringings. "…my brothers and I are, like, battling. We're battling." While Billy's father was a high school teacher, his coach and ran the Cub Scouts and Little League, Phillips' mother, Mamas and the Papas singer Michelle Phillips, lived with Warren Beatty for four years after divorcing Chynna's father. Then Michelle lived with Jack Nicholson for four years and then was briefly married to Dennis Hopper, all while dating Mick Jagger throughout. Billy added that Chynna used to go to the Ice Capades and the circus and zoo with Michael Jackson and his brothers and sisters. "But oddly enough, the Baldwins have kind of jumped the Phillips' shark when it comes to family dysfunction and insanity," he joked. "They're all back together. They're all in the same room for Thanksgiving talking, while my brothers and I are like, battling. We're battling."

"Sacramento" road-trip comedy latest Hollywood film to boost local economy

SACRAMENTO — A movie shot in California's capital city nearly two years ago is about to hit the silver screen this spring. The trailer for the road-trip comedy "Sacramento" came out this week and we heard from some locals who were present when Hollywood came to town. Mermaid Rachel with Dive Bar K Street is one of the local Sacramentans making a cameo appearance in the new movie — with a brief appearance in the trailer. "We didn't know how much we'd be featured, but to be in the trailer — it's huge," Rachel said. The film spent two days shooting in the Sacramento area. "They wanted everyone to be really natural," Rachel said. "They wanted to get the ambiance of these different venues and places in Sacramento, so it was really sort of guerilla filmmaking." Kayla, a bartender at Dive Bar, was working while the film's star, Michael Cera, shot a scene. "He was very casual, very relaxed," she said. "He was there to do a job. He was super polite to everybody that was here." Other filming locations include the Tower Bridge, Old Sacramento, and Gunther's Ice Cream. "It is amazing. They hit all of the most iconic Sacramento locations," said Jennifer West, Sacramento's film commissioner. West said this movie could help attract more Hollywood crews. "This is the best kind of marketing, showing off our as a location destination," she added. Another movie shot in Sacramento, "No Address," is now playing in theaters. Last year, a big-budget film starring Leonardo DiCaprio spent two weeks in town shooting several action sequences. "People were flocking to downtown just to get a glimpse of Hollywood," West said. "It's exciting." The City of Sacramento has set aside money to try and bring more movie shoots to town, which helps the local economy. "We do have a one-time $250,000 incentive that will launch July 1," West said. "We really need to be competitive and this incentive is going to allow us to do that." "Sacramento" is scheduled to be released in April, and there's a lot of anticipation to see our city on the silver screen. "It won't be a problem to quietly watch myself and freak out later," Rachel said. "I'm not going to stand up and scream 'that's me" to everyone in the theater." Sacramento city officials are supporting a plan by Gov. Gavin Newsom to expand the state's filmmaker tax credit to $750 million in an effort to keep more TV and movie projects produced in California.

National movie's ticket sales support non-profits addressing chronic homelessness

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — While many will be spending their weekend making sure they're caught up on all of this year's Oscar-nominated movies, there's one movie hitting screens Friday with a deeper message and some benefits for local non-profits. 'No Address' follows a group of homeless people struggling together to survive on the streets. When Rochester non-profits heard the movie was in development, they wanted to make sure the theme of the movie made its way to Rochester. 'It really takes you through this story of all these different friends coming together, finding their way through homelessness and finding solutions,' Person Centered Housing Options Executive Vice President Nicholas Coulter told News 8. Coulter says the developer of the film reached out to nonprofits nationwide to host movie premieres. That premiere sold out Thursday night at AMC Webster as moviegoers got an advanced screening. And after, a panel discussed homelessness in Rochester. 'Local folks on the ground working in this field will educate our movie goers on what kind of things they can do to collaborate and support the work we do,' Coulter said. 'No Address' stars Ashanti, William Baldwin, and Isabella Ferreira as Lauren, a girl who is kicked out of her apartment and her family's house and becomes homeless. She finds herself on the streets and ends up finding friends that she hangs out with and survives with. Coulter says he hopes those watching are moved to get involved which all starts with buying a ticket. 'The goal for Robert Craig films and 'No Address,' is that half of the proceeds go out to nonprofits.' Coulter said those proceeds will help PCHO continue to address chronic homelessness in Rochester. And if you can't make it out to the theater: 'I think staying aware of what's going on at the federal level with HUD cuts and other types of issues those affect us here on the ground. So, staying aware, being involved, calling your legislators and supporting local organizations by donating,' Coulter said. For local showtimes for 'No Address,' click here.
