He Helped Rob Kim Kardashian at Gunpoint, Then Wrote a Book About It — and Now He 'Regrets It'
One of the suspects on trial for the armed robbery of Kim Kardashian during Paris Fashion Week in 2016 has publicly admitted to his involvement in the crime and is now saying he regrets the trauma it caused.
'I regret it, not because I got caught, but because ... there was a trauma,' Yunice Abbas, 71, testified in court on Tuesday, April 29, per NBC News.
Abbas co-authored the 2021 book I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, in which he identified himself as one of the robbers behind the heist.
Since then, Abbas has testified that he had no role in choosing the title of the book, which he claims misrepresents his actions. He claims he wasn't in the reality star's hotel room at the No Address hotel in Paris and instead kept watch in another area, NBC reported.
According to the Associated Press, Abbas' book revenue is suspended pending the result of the trial.
Abbas is one of 10 people on trial facing charges in connection with the heist, which resulted in Kardashian being held at gunpoint and tied up as five masked men robbed her of jewelry worth nearly $9 million in October 2016, according to the New York Times.
A source close to the reality star told PEOPLE in 2016 that she managed to escape after wriggling her hands out of the zip ties. A second source told PEOPLE that Kardashian then "screamed from the balcony" for help.

Kardashian has said the robbers took two diamond Cartier bracelets, a gold and diamond Jacob necklace, Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, a gold Rolex and other items during the heist, according to French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche. A $4 million ring gifted to her by then-husband Kanye West was also among the items stolen.
According to the Times, most of the stolen jewelry has never been recovered.
French police initially arrested 17 suspects across France in connection with the armed robbery in January 2017. Half of the 10 suspects currently on trial are considered alleged accomplices. One of the men indicted by prosecutors is the younger brother of Kardashian's Paris chauffeur.
The group has been dubbed the "Grandpa robbers" by French media due to their older ages and previous criminal history, according to ABC News.

In court on Tuesday, Abbas also spoke about his time behind bars for crimes including a previous armed robbery in Belgium, according to NBC News. The outlet reported that Abbas further claimed he turned to theft due to bad influences and to provide for his children.
Kardashian, 44, is expected to testify in person at the trial, PEOPLE learned last month. She previously said she believed the perpetrators tracked her via social media.
'I was Snapchatting that I was home and that everyone was going out," she explained in a 2017 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. "So I think they knew Pascal [her bodyguard] was out with Kourtney and that I was there by myself."

Mary Lou Retton 'determined to learn and grow' after DUI conviction
Mary Lou Retton is "determined to learn and grow" following her conviction for driving under the influence (DUI). The Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast, 57, was arrested by police in West Virginia last month after she was found behind the wheel of her Porsche in a parking lot with a bottle of wine in the passenger seat and she appeared in court on Tuesday (10.06.25) where she pleaded no contest plea to a non-aggravated DUI charge. She has now released a statement via PEOPLE apologising for her actions. It reads: "I take full responsibility for my actions. What happened was completely unacceptable. I make no excuses. To my family, friends and my fans: I have let you down, and for that I am deeply sorry. "I am determined to learn and grow from this experience, and I am committed to making positive changes in my life. I truly appreciate your concern, encouragement and continued support." Retton's attorney Edmund J. Rollo added the former sports star "asks for privacy as she moves forward with her personal and professional life". Police claimed that during the incident in West Virginia, Retton refused to have her blood tested for alcohol but three field sobriety tests confirmed she was too impaired to drive. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or drugs; penalties and released from custody after posting a personal recognizance bond of $1,500. The former Dancing with the Stars contestant was fined $100 for the offence. The incident comes less than two years after Retton was left fighting for her life in intensive care after she was struck down with a rare form of pneumonia. Retton's daughter McKenna, 26, launched an online fundraiser to help pay for her mum's treatment because she didn't have medical insurance and it pulled in more than $459,000. The former sports star - who is mother to four daughters - went on to make a full recovery and shared an emotional open letter thanking her loved ones for all their support during such a tough time. In a post on Instagram, she wrote: "I want to express how truly blessed and thankful I am to be slowly improving and to be home with my girls, especially after my time in the hospital. "The love and support of my four amazing daughters have been a source of strength and inspiration throughout my journey. Their presence in my life is a testament to the incredible bonds of family. "My extended family, all of you, have shown me immeasurable kindness, offering prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support during my challenging times. Your love has been a beacon of hope in my life."

R. Kelly Accuses Prison Officials of Murder Plot, Says He's In Danger
Originally appeared on E! Online R. Kelly is requesting what he believes to be a life-saving measure. The 'Ignition' singer—who is currently serving a 30-year sentence in a federal North Carolina prison for convictions associated with allegations of racketeering, bribery, coercion, enticement and sex trafficking—has asked to be released to home detention due to an alleged murder plot against him, according to court docs obtained by NBC News. 'His life depends on the oversight of literal 'guards' and jailers who are entrusted with his safety,' R. Kelly's attorney Beau B. Brindley wrote in the filing. 'Yet, explicit evidence has now emerged to show that the very officials charged with protecting incarcerated inmates have solicited Mr. Kelly's murder.' While Kelly (full name Robert Kelly) has denied all the charges against him—including in the 2022 Chicago sex crimes case in which he was convicted of six counts of sex crimes including child pornography—his legal team said that the alleged murder plot against him is a result of alleged crimes committed by Bureau of Prisons (BOP) officials against Kelly. 'At least two avowed white supremacists and members of the Aryan Brotherhood have been approached by BOP officers and directed to take Mr. Kelly's life.' The attorney alleged that another prison authority gave the musician a warning, as well. 'The official then advised Mr. Kelly that he was in danger and that Mr. Kelly needed to be careful,' the lawyer wrote in the filing. 'The BOP official intimated that Mr. Kelly was not safe in Bureau of Prisons custody.' Brindley also said that the prison official told Kelly that he 'should avoid the mess hall' due to the 'possibility of poison being mixed into the food at the chow hall and in the commissary as a means of achieving these executions.' As a result of the alleged murder plot against Kelly, his legal team has asked that he be temporarily released to serve his ongoing sentence in home detention. E! News has reached out to Brindley, Bureau of Prisons officials and the U.S. attorney's office for comment and has not yet heard back. (E! and NBC News are both part of the NBCUniversal family.) Cristiano Ronaldo's Girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez Turns Heads in Bold Black Outfit on Tuesday
Cristiano Ronaldo's Girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez Turns Heads in Bold Black Outfit on Tuesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. All eyes were on Georgina Rodriguez Tuesday night as she arrived at Netflix Spain's 10th anniversary celebration in a bold, all-black outfit that had fans and fashion watchers buzzing. Rodriguez, the longtime girlfriend of soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo, stepped out at the Palacio de Cristal in Madrid wearing a striking black midi dress with corset-style lace-up details on the front and sides. The dress, a vintage Dolce & Gabbana piece from 2019, hugged her figure perfectly and featured thin straps and a small slit near the hem that added just the right amount of elegance. She paired the look with glossy black stilettos, which added a sharp, polished touch. To complete her look, Rodriguez chose minimal jewelry; a silver bracelet, rings and hoop earrings and styled her long, wavy hair to fall softly over her shoulders. Her makeup was subtle but romantic, with rose-toned lips and blush that brought out the full effect of the black-on-black ensemble. Netflix Spain shared a photo of Rodriguez on Instagram shortly after the event and fans wasted no time flooding the comments section with admiration. 'Queen Georgina,' one person wrote. Another called her 'a wonderful diva.' 'Georgina the biggest one we have!!' a fan boldly declared. Others joined in, with messages like 'Georgina, the mother of all' and 'I love you Georgina, you are beautiful.' 'Georgina is the most beautiful woman,' a user summed it up simply. Rodriguez's presence at the celebration proved once again why she remains one of the most talked-about figures in fashion and lifestyle. Her choice of outfit echoed the same high-glamour style fans have come to expect from her, from the lace-trimmed slipdress at the 2025 Met Gala to the sharp white platforms she wore to Paris Fashion Week earlier this year. Though known globally as Ronaldo's partner since 2016, Rodriguez has made a name for herself far beyond the football spotlight. She's a mother of six, a fashion influencer and a regular at major events. Still, she often keeps her focus on family, recently telling Vogue, 'If I tell you the truth, I no longer remember clearly what day-to-day life was like without being famous.' On Tuesday night, though, Georgina Rodriguez reminded everyone just how effortlessly she blends glamour with confidence. She didn't just attend Netflix Spain's milestone event, she stole the story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 11, 2025, where it first appeared.
