Kim Kardashian reacts to Paris robbery verdict with powerful statement

Kim Kardashian has spoken out following the guilty verdict in the 2016 armed robbery case that left her traumatized during Paris Fashion Week. On May 23, a French court convicted eight people involved in the high-profile jewel heist, while two others were acquitted or faced unrelated charges. Due to the defendants' advanced age and health issues, none will serve additional prison time. Kardashian, 44, was robbed at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room, where assailants stole $9 million in jewelry, including a 20-carat diamond ring from then-husband Kanye West. In a statement, she expressed deep gratitude to French authorities for pursuing justice. 'This crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family,' Kardashian said. 'While I'll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all.' The verdict followed a month-long trial where Kardashian bravely testified in Paris, recalling how she begged for her life. Aomar Ait Khedache, the 69-year-old ringleader, apologized in a letter read aloud during the proceedings. Another defendant, Yunice Abbas, 72, who wrote a book titled I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, also expressed remorse. Kardashian's legal team praised her courage and reaffirmed her ongoing dedication to justice reform. The verdict came shortly after Kardashian completed her law program, continuing the legacy of her father, attorney Robert Kardashian. She now looks forward to putting the traumatic chapter behind her while advocating for victims and meaningful legal change.

‘Grandpa robbers' found guilty of robbing Kim Kardashian at gunpoint

Eight people, mostly pensioners, have been found guilty of crimes connected to the gunpoint robbery of £7.5 million worth of jewellery from Kim Kardashian, the billionaire American socialite. The 44-year-old reality television star was tied up and held at gunpoint in a five-hour ordeal at a hotel in October 2016 during Paris Fashion Week by a gang dubbed 'the grandpa robbers'. They dumped Kardashian in her hotel bathroom and made off by bicycle and on foot with the jewels, including a £3.7 million ring from her then-husband, rapper Kanye West. The group of nine men and one woman, with an average age of 70, were accused of armed robbery, kidnapping and gang association. Eight of the accused were convicted while two of the defendants, both considered informants who allegedly passed on Kardashian's movements to the robbers, were acquitted. Due to time already served in pretrial detention, none of those found guilty will go to prison. David De Pas, the chief judge, told the defendants: 'The sentences are quite lenient; I understand that you understand that you have caused harm. 'The state of health of the main protagonists ethically prohibits incarcerating anyone. It would have been unjust to take you to prison this evening.' Kardashian, in a statement following the guilty verdicts, said: 'The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family. 'While I'll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. 'I remain committed to advocating for justice, and promoting a fair legal system.' Credit: Reuters Aomar Ait Khedache, 68, known as 'Old Omar' and who is completely blind and deaf, had admitted to tying up Kardashian but denied being the mastermind of the plot. In a statement read out on his behalf by his lawyer to the packed courtroom, he begged for forgiveness. 'I ask for forgiveness. I can't find the words. I am very sorry,' it read. 'I offer a thousand apologies,' he scribbled on a piece of paper during the proceedings. He was sentenced to eight years in prison, five of which were suspended, and fined €5,000. Anne-Dominique Merville, the prosecutor general, had demanded that Khedache, who has multiple convictions for drug-running and robbery, should spend the next 10 years in prison. She said he was 'now of a certain age and showed no risk of reoffending' but should 'pay for his crimes'. His son, Harminy Aït Khedache, who was the getaway driver but maintained he had no idea that a robbery was taking place, was sentenced to five years in prison, four of which were suspended. Yunice Abbas, who admitted his participation and wrote a book in 2021 called I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, which recounted his role in the plot, was sentenced to seven years in prison, five of which were suspended. Didier Dubreucq, nicknamed Didier 'Blue Eyes', who was identified as one of the two criminals who entered Kardashian's bedroom and stole her jewellery, was sentenced to seven years in prison, five of which were suspended. Marc-Alexandre Boyer, the youngest of the group, now aged 35, was suspected of having kept lookout in the hotel lobby with Abbas. Marc Boyer, his father, accused only of possessing a weapon, was fined €5,000. Christiane Glotin, 80, who acted as the 'criminal secretary', was given a four-year suspended sentence. François Delaporte, accused of providing and possessing false documents, was handed a three-year suspended prison sentence. Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism. Kim Kardashian's Paris robbers found guilty after holding star at gunpoint

The men who held Kim Kardashian at gunpoint during her Paris robbery have been found guilty following a trial. Kim Kardashian's armed robbers have been found guilty after they held the reality star at gunpoint. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who recently became eligible to take the bar in order to become an attorney, came face to face with the men who burst into her Paris hotel room in October 2016, reports the Mirror. ‌ Ten people went on trial in the French capital for their involvement in the robbery and faced charges including armed robbery and kidnapping in an organised gang. During the terrifying incident, Kim, who was in Paris for Fashion Week, was tied up and held at gunpoint by the men. ‌ A six-member jury, led by three judges, came to a verdict today in Paris. They found the ringleader and seven others guilty, with two of the 10 defendants acquitted. While testifying, Kim, 44, bravely told the court she feared being raped. "I was certain that was the moment that he was going to rape me, I absolutely did think I was going to die," she said. Before the jury retired today, Aomar Aït Khedache, 70, who personally held Kim at gunpoint, begged the star for forgiveness. "I can't find the words to say how sorry I am. I offer a thousand apologies," he wrote on a piece of paper with his claims being displayed on a screen inside the Voltaire Chamber of the court. Prosecutor General Anne-Dominique Merville told the court that Aït Khedache should spend the next ten years of his life in prison. She said he was "now of a certain age and showed no risk of reoffending" but should "pay for his crimes." ‌ Ms Merville said Aït Khedache, who admitted taking part in the heist after his DNA was found at the scene, "now downplays the violence involved." Kim lost $10million worth of jewellery during the raid, including her $4million engagement ring from her ex-husband, Kanye 'Ye' West, which has not been recovered. While on trial, Aït Khedache denied being the mastermind behind the heisst, claiming that there was a mysterious "X or Ben," who should bare the responsibility. But Merville stated there was sufficient proof to suggest that he "gave the orders" before heading to Antwerp, Belgium, to sell the items. Yunice Abbas, 72, was also told he could face a ten-year jail sentence and has been the only other defendant to offer a guilty plea. While on remand, he wrote a book, I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, which was given as a gift to the prosecutors. ‌ Speaking to the court, he said: "Once again, I have nothing but regrets to offer you, I'm sorry for what I did." Didier Dubreucq, 69, who was allegedly the second robber to enter Kardashian's residence in the city, along with Aït Khedache, who is also known as "Old Omar". Lesser sentences were requested for other members of the gang who, like Dubreucq, had all denied any wrongdoing. The entire gang were allowed to speak to the court for the final time before the jury retired on Friday. Meanwhile, Cathy Glotin, 78, who has been branded Aït Khedache's mistress, had continued to deny any wrongdoing. ‌ She told the court: "I had nothing to do with this case, and look forward to being reunited with my family." But it was heard that she offered "secretarial services" to the gang, which included providing burner phones. The gang could have been given 30-year sentences, but due to their ages and poor health, they were offered lesser sentences. The majority of the defendants were jailed in January 2017, just three months after the robbery. They were subsequently released on bail. Verdict reached in Kim Kardashian robbery trial

A gang have been found guilty by a Paris court of crimes connected to the gunpoint robbery of Kim Kardashian. Nine men and one woman, with an average age of 70, were facing charges including armed robbery, kidnapping and gang association over the 2016 incident, where Kim was tied up and robbed in her Paris hotel room. The court found the ringleader and seven others guilty, while it acquitted two of the defendants, after a four week trial. Aomar Ait Khedache, 69, known as "Old Omar", and Yunice Abbas, who wrote a book called 'I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian', had admitted some part in the robbery. The remaining eight defendants had all denied the charges against them. Before the verdict was delivered, Khedache – who is almost mute and partially deaf following years of ill health – shared: 'I can't find the words to say how sorry I am. I offer a thousand apologies.' Abbas said: 'Once again, I have nothing but regrets to offer you; I'm sorry for what I did.' Prosecutors had requested sentences of up to 10 years. Most of the gang received suspended sentences while Florus Héroui, 52, and Gary Madar, 34, were both acquitted after prosecutors failed to convince the jury that they had shared information about Kardashian's movements in Paris. Kim testified in court last week about the ordeal and shared that she had thought she would die during it. However, she added to the court: "I am obviously emotional about it - this experience changed my life, my family's life. "Back home in the States I work in the justice system and I want so badly to be a lawyer and I fight for people to seek justice. "… I forgive you. But it doesn't change the emotion, the feelings and the trauma and the way my life has changed." The defendants have 10 days to appeal the ruling.
