But now, at 51, comes definitive proof Kate Moss is embracing maturity in a manner unthinkable in her glory days.

Cigarettes are 4 times cheaper in cash-strapped Pakistan than India because…, price of 1 cigarette is Rs… New Delhi: The world celebrates No Smoking Day on every second Wednesday of March every year. The day is celebrated to awaken people about the dreadful diseases caused by smoking tobacco. It is not wrong to say that cigarettes are the deadliest product made by human civilisation that is silently killing their user every day with every puff. In the 20th century over 10 crore people lost their lives due to smoking. We can blame James Buchanan, an American businessman, for introducing the present form of cigarettes. In the year 1880, Duke entered the business of handmade cigarettes. In North Carolina, some people started making cigarettes under the name Duke of Durham. Both its corners were folded and sealed. Pakistan is also a major consumer of cigarettes, and people there love to smoke these tobacco sticks. Do you know cigarettes are cheaper in cash-strapped Pakistan than in India? Let's know more about it. Marlboro Cigarettes Cost In Pakistan We all know that cigarettes have different prices in different countries due to differences in tax rates. Numbeo has recently released a ranking of cigarette prices in as many as 107 countries. as per the list, the most expensive cigarettes are sold in Australia. You will be astonished to know that the cheapest cigarettes are sold in cash-strapped Pakistan, where a loaf of bread costs three times the price as compared to India. In Australia, the price of a packet of 20 Marlboro cigarettes is Rs 2,166.80. In Pakistan, it's price is just Rs 80. This simply means that a smoker can get a packet of 20 cigarettes for Rs 80 in Pakistan. So, the cost of one Marlboro cigarette is just Rs 4. Whereas in India the price of 20 Marlboro cigarettes is around Rs 340. It means one cigarette costs around Rs 17. Cigarettes Are Cheaper In Bangladesh And China Cigarette prices are different in every country due to several reasons. New Zealand has the second-highest cost with a pack of 20 cigarettes priced at Rs 1,877. This compares to Rs 1,165 in the UK, Rs 998 in Canada, Rs 908 in Singapore, and Rs 738 in the US. In contrary, a pack of Marlboro cigarettes costs Rs 612 in Saudi Arabia, Rs 294 in China, and Rs 241 in Bangladesh. Earlier, Cigarettes Were Sold As A Healthy Product Back in 1930s cigarettes were sold as a healthy product as the link between it and lung cancer was not discovered. Cigarettes were marketed as beneficial and even included in medical encyclopedias as late as 1906. Medical professionals now understand that smoking harms lung cells, increasing the risk of cancer. Although the body initially attempts to repair this damage, continued exposure leads to irreversible cellular damage and ultimately, cancer development.

Two East Sussex beaches become 'smoke free'

Two Sussex beaches are among the first in England to become voluntarily smoke free. On Wednesday, Bexhill beach from the De La Warr Pavilion to the Coronation Bandstand on East Parade and all of Camber Sands became designated as smoke free. According to Public Health England, there are more than 57,000 smokers in East Sussex. Councillor Doug Oliver, leader of Rother District Council, said it was a "positive initiative to establish the first voluntary smoke free beaches in England". Rob Tolfree, acting director of East Sussex Public Health, said: "Second-hand smoke is just as toxic outdoors as it is indoors. "Creating two smoke free beaches in East Sussex will help protect our children and young people from the effects of smoking by encouraging people to think twice before smoking on the beach." Sussex Wildlife Trust said cigarette butts are one of the most littered items globally and take years to biodegrade. "They leak chemicals including nicotine, ethyl phenol and heavy metals into the sea as they break down, damaging delicate marine ecosystems," the Trust's spokesperson said. The Trust added East Sussex has two Marine Conservation Zones which protect rare underwater chalk reefs and vulnerable blue mussel beds, as well as diverse marine life. The initiative was launched by East Sussex County Council and Rother District Council, supported by Sussex Wildlife Trust on No Smoking Day. Follow BBC Sussex on Facebook, on X, and on Instagram.
