The Oilers defeated the Golden Knights 5-4 in overtime. MoreHow to Watch Golden Knights vs Oilers Game 3: Date: Saturday, May 10, 2025 Time: 9:00 PM ET Channel: TNT, truTV Stream: Sling (WATCH NOW) Leon Draisaitl was the hero in Game 2, giving the Oilers a commanding 2-0 series lead with his game-winning goal in overtime. Edmonton clearly has the upper hand now, heading back to their home ice, needing only two more wins to advance. The Golden Knights must find a way to bounce back on the road. During the trip, they need at least one and ideally two wins in Edmonton. Jack Eichel has done his thing, with four assists already in the series (three in Game 2). In order to keep up with the offensive firepower of Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, Vegas will have to find consistent offensive production from players other than just Eichel, as winning a shootout might be the only way to beat the Oilers. McDavid was quiet by his standards in Game 2, with only one assist, which is a scary thought, considering Edmonton still scored five goals. If he gets hot in this one, the Oilers could run away with the series. This is a great NHL Playoff matchup that will not disappoint; make sure to tune in and catch all the action. (AP Photo/John Locher) The final week of the NHL regular season will determine home ice and positioning for the playoffs. Just the final wild cards in the Western Conference are to be determined, along with the Eastern Conference Atlantic division winner, which shows the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-points in front with three games remaining. But the Vegas Golden Knights clinched their fourth Pacific Division title in eight seasons Saturday night with a 5-3 win over The Nashville Predators on home ice in Las Vegas. Vegas (107 points) will host the top wild card team between the Minnesota Wild (95) and surging St. Louis Blues (94) with Game 1 Sunday, April 20. The Calgary Flames (90) are still chasing the final No. 2 wild card in the West but need to win their final three games and have the Blues lose or tie their one remaining game or the Wild lose. The Knights secured home ice advantage for at least two rounds and they advance with their seventh playoff appearance in eight seasons continuing one of the great stories in sports in one of the best places to play in the National Hockey League. 'It's like nothing else, and one of the best arenas to play in. It's rocking' and awesome,' Knights forward Ben Hutton said in a post game interview Saturday with VGK play-by-play broadcaster Dan Duva. Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy acknowledged the teams high expectations and standards with the playoffs ahead, and how the culture has been built and established. 'Players want to play here. It's a good place to play, a great building to play in and great city to be around as the fan base loves the team.' Cassidy also mentioned The Masters golf tournament and final round ahead near the end of his press conference Saturday. An avid golfer, and someone who is in golf pools, he used the analogy of Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau facing the pressure and performing in the heat of the battle as leaders of the tournament versus players out of the tournament unable to win and still playing Sunday. The Golden Knights face the pressure and continue to perform at a high level as Pacific Division champions, which has not seen the Edmonton Oilers or Los Angeles Kings on top in more than a decade. The Vegas Golden Knights lead the NHL in regular season wins (45) with a top power play unit in the league. Now they get key players returning from injury and in better health ahead of the playoffs with proven performers Jack Eichel, Tomas Hertl and Alex Pietrangelo ready for another Stanley Cup run. The Knights made it to the Western Conference Final in their three previous division-winning seasons and twice to the Stanley Cup Final including in 2023 when the Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup. The chemistry, coaching, top players and key contributors are in place for another playoff run. You can bet on it.

3 Takeaways: Golden Knights Clinch Pacific Division Title With 5-3 Victory Over Nashville Predators

LAS VEGAS -- The Golden Knights clinched the Pacific Division for the fourth time in eight years after defeating the Nashville Predators 5-3 on Saturday night. Noah Hanifin snapped a 15-game goal drought by scoring with 1:55 left in the game to snap a 3-3 tie with a blistering shot from the point to put the Golden Knights ahead after they squandered a two-goal lead to start the third period. Advertisement "I was asked this morning what I thought one of the great qualities of our team was, and I thought it was our resilience, our willingness to push back and keep playing no matter what," Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. "Now, do we want to give up a two-goal lead right out the gates to start the third? Of course not. You got to be mindful of another team might not let you off the hook if you do that. We have to be careful with that. Every team in this league is good. If you don't play the right way, I don't care who you're playing, a team that's eliminated, (a) first-place (team), whatever, you know they're going to make you pay." Vegas, which has won four of its last five games, also got goals from Brett Howden, Nic Roy, Alexander Holtz and Ivan Barbashev in the win, while Adin Hill made 14 saves. Sylvanie-Imagn Images Here are three takeaways from the game: Advertisement SHEA-D BUSINESS: Shea Theodore's assist on Roy's goal broke the franchise record for points in a single season by a defenseman. It was Theodore's 55th point of the season (7 goals, 48 assists). The 55 points are a career-high for the 29-year-old. His previous high was 52 points, set during the 2021-22 season. His 48 assists are also a career-high. HENDERSON HOLTZ: After spending a good portion of the first half of the season with the Golden Knights, Holtz was sent down the interstate to the team's AHL franchise in nearby Henderson. Holtz said his time spent with the Silver Knights helped with his poise on the ice, while he felt his puck control improved which translated into more confidence on the ice upon returning to Vegas. The goal was his fourth of the season for the Golden Knights. "He's a better player than when he left, so that's a positive," Cassidy said. "That's a credit to the player that goes down there, identifies that this isn't punishment. You're on a good hockey team, a first-place team when he left, and you got to get better if you expect to push through and grab someone's job." MARCHESSAULT'S RETURN: Former Golden Knight Jonathan Marchessault returned to T-Mobile Arena for the first time since signing with the Predators last summer. An original member of the franchise, Marchessault remains one of the most beloved players in the team's short history, as he helped lead the team to the 2023 Stanley Cup title. Advertisement The 34-year-old, who scored a goal early in the third period, received a standing ovation after an 80-second video played on the area's large video above the ice. "It was unbelievable," Marchessault. "That's what you expect. High-class organization, high-class people from top to bottom. Great fans, unbelievable. They were always there for me and my family, but for anyone that puts on a jersey there. It was just unbelievable to see Vegas. It's gonna be unbelievable memories for me for sure."
