Former ONE bantamweight champion Nong-O Hama registered a stunning win against Kongthoranee Sor Sommai in the main event of ONE Fight Night 31 at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok on Saturday. Nong-O defeated his compatriot via unanimous decision, earning his first victory in the flyweight division. ONE Fight Night 28: Muay Thai icon Nong-O ready for ‘last dance'
At 38 years old, Muay Thai icon Nong-O Hama is not ready to fade quietly into the shadows. Instead, the multiple-time world champion and the inaugural ONE Championship bantamweight Muay Thai king is making one final push for greatness – this time at flyweight. After losing three of his past four bouts at bantamweight, Nong-O is cutting down in weight for what he calls his 'last dance'. His first test at flyweight comes at ONE Fight Night 28 on Saturday against Kongthoranee Sor Sommai, a highly skilled Muay Femur stylist who is 10 years his junior and ranked fourth in the division. With the ONE flyweight Muay Thai title vacant, a victory in Bangkok could put Nong-O in immediate contention for yet another world championship. 'I think I am prepared for this fight very well,' Nong-O told the Post. 'I'm not nervous. I think everything is going according to plan.' The Thai veteran has built a reputation on dismantling younger opponents throughout his storied career, but he remains cautious of his upcoming foe.
