King Arrives In Kazan For Second Segment Of State Visit To Russia
GENERAL From Noor Farhana Ahmad Norain KAZAN, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, arrived in Kazan today for the second segment of his state visit to Russia. The special plane carrying Sultan Ibrahim touched down at the Kazan International Airport at 10.15 am. Present to welcome His Majesty was the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov. Tartastan Deputy Prime Minister and Industry and Trade Minister Oleg Korobchenko and Russian Ambassador to Malaysia Nail Latypov were in attendance. In a traditional welcoming gesture, three girls in Tatar national costume presented His Majesty with bread and chak-chak – a traditional Tatar dessert. Earlier today, Sultan Ibrahim was accorded a ceremonial sending-off ceremony at the Vnukovo-2 Airport in Moscow. This afternoon, the King is expected to receive an audience from Minnikhanov at the Kazan Kremlin Presidential Palace. Sultan Ibrahim is in Russia for a state visit at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.

King Observes Russian Drone Technology At Tochka Kipeniya
GENERAL By Noor Farhana Ahmad Norain MOSCOW, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today visited Tochka Kipeniya, a technology and innovation centre in Moscow, as part of his state visit to Russia. Upon arrival, His Majesty was received by Dimitry Peskov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, and Alexey Ponomarev, Senior Vice-President of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech). Accompanying the King were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who is also the Minister-in-Attendance, Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin, and Malaysian Ambassador to Russia Datuk Cheong Loon Lai. During the hour-long visit, Sultan Ibrahim toured an exhibition showcasing Russian drone technology, where Peskov briefed His Majesty on various technological development initiatives. The exhibition also featured a wide array of drones designed for diverse applications, highlighting Russia's growing capabilities in the unmanned aerial systems sector. -- BERNAMA

Sultan Ibrahim Visits Russia's Leading Automotive Research Centre In Moscow
GENERAL From Noor Farhana Ahmad Norain MOSCOW, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today visited the Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engines Institute (NAMI) here to observe advancements in Russian automotive technology. Upon arrival, His Majesty was received by NAMI chief executive officer Fedor Nazarov. Also present were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who is also the Minister-in-Attendance, Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin, and Malaysian Ambassador to Russia Datuk Cheong Loon Lai. The visit began with a briefing by Nazarov and a video presentation on NAMI, a premier Russian scientific and engineering institute established in 1918 as the country's first automobile research laboratory. Today, NAMI is among Europe's largest automotive testing centres, with laboratory facilities, test tracks, and a special zone for autonomous vehicles. Among its key projects is the development of the AURUS luxury vehicle range, designed and manufactured at NAMI facilities. His Majesty showed keen interest in the institute's operations, vehicle models and production processes, posing various questions throughout the visit. Sultan Ibrahim later toured the showroom with Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, before visiting the assembly plant.
