Norconsult to deliver engineering consultancy services for NRK's HQ in Oslo
Norconsult has been chosen by contractor and project developer HENT, a part of Sentia, to provide major engineering consultancy services for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation's (NRK) new media house in Oslo. This contract is estimated to be worth Nkr100m ($9.88m). The contract for the new headquarters was secured by HENT in March 2025, followed by a comprehensive competition for engineering consultancy services to be delivered during construction. The collaboration between HENT and Norconsult draws on their experience in managing complex projects. The new headquarters for NRK is designed to house all its Oslo-based employees, with a gross floor area (GFA) of around 50,000m² that includes office spaces, studios, production rooms, and a large concert studio. This project is expected to reach completion by 2029. Norconsult, a pan-Nordic interdisciplinary consultant, offers engineering, architecture, and digital expertise for a range of projects. Based in Sandvika, Norway, the company employs a workforce of 6,600 across more than 140 offices in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Poland, and Finland. Norconsult Norway head office EVP Bård Sverre Hernes said: "This is an important win for Norconsult at NRK's new media house. We are very pleased to secure this assignment, and we look forward to working closely with NRK and HENT in this prestigious project. "Together we are a very competent team to provide the necessary expertise and capacity to realise the project in a successful way. Norconsult has strong competences and extensive experience in collaboration and complex building projects." In November 2023, Norconsult announced that one of its subsidiaries had won the design contract for the Geneva Airport expansion project in Switzerland, with the first phase of the construction set to be completed by 2032.
