We'll be hitting the road again with our Forever Home series next Monday, May 5th. We'll have a very busy next shoot with the Central Vermont Humane Society with more than just an adoptable pet to look forward to. Until then, we have some fresh and exciting new events that have been added to our Pet Community Calendar. Check out those events, here! North Country Animal League: The North Country Animal League is looking forward to crowning a winner of their 'Rescue Brew Label Contest' at their Open House on June 7th. Voting is now open for the 'Rescue Brew Label Contest' where one dog, one cat, and one wild card winner will have their photos put on Rock Art Brewery beer cans. It's just one dollar per vote with the hopes of fundraising more than the $40,000 that was raised last year. Check out the North Country Animal League's website for much more. Central Vermont Humane Society: Registration for CVHS' June 7th 'Walk for Animals' is officially open. Sponsorships are in place and donations have already totaled more than half of the $80,000 goal. 'Walk for Animals' begins at 9:30 AM on June 7th down at the State Lawn. There will be a 1 mile walk and parade around Montpelier, tricks and costume contests, vendors, games, kid's activities, and so much more. For more information about how to register and/or donate, please visit Central Vermont Humane Society's website. Homeward Bound, Addison County's Humane Society: A major milestone for a pillar of the Addison County community will be celebrated on May 16th from 5:30 to 10 PM at The Brandon Inn. The reason for festivities, you ask? Homeward Bound, Addison County's Humane Society will be celebrating 50 years of dedicated and compassionate service to the communities they serve. There will be a cocktail hour, silent auction, dinner, live music and dancing until the clock hits 10 PM. You can reserve your spot on Homeward Bound's website. Queen City Cats and Queen City Cat Lounge: Lastly, the Queen City Cat Lounge is officially offering up monthly memberships. If you're looking for a source of stress relief, ways to escape reality just a little bit every month, then this monthly membership to the Queen City Cat Lounge may be something you want to look in to. This new monthly membership would also make for a great gift. You can find all the details on the Queen City Cat Lounge website. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Happy adoption pup-dates and a new Pet Calendar event
First, we're celebrating Elfie from the Central Vermont Humane Society and Matilda from the North Country Animal League. While their adopters were shy about an adoption day photo, we certainly know how Elfie felt about the whole thing with that big ol' smile. Not to mention, Matilda found her 'Miss Honey' the same afternoon her Forever Home episode aired! Lastly, a big fundraising event is now underway at the North Country Animal League. You can start submitting your pet's photos for a beer label competition. The winning photos will be put on Rock Art Brewery beer cans and will be revealed at NCAL's Open House event on June 7th. Last year, this event raised $40,000. Jacques Du Preez, the executive director at NCAL says, 'three pets will each receive their own beer label and we also plan on adding them to the wrap of our transport vehicle so a couple extra ways to show our appreciation for supporting the contest.' You have until April 28th to share your photo. That's also the same day voting opens to the public. For just one dollar per vote, you can make your voice heard about who should win this beer label contest. The winning pets will also receive a professional photoshoot. All of the money raised from this event will go back to supporting the life-saving care and services NCAL offers to the communities they serve. You can head on over to the North Country Animal League's website for more information. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Sweet senior pup, Matilda, is ready to be adopted
While visiting the North Country Animal League for this week's newest Forever Home episode, we met the one and only Matilda. She is everything you want in a laid back, chill, super sweet dog…and no, she does not act like a senior dog! Matilda is approximately 10 years old and is having some dental surgery tomorrow. Once that is complete, she is good to go to be adopted into her new Forever Home. Age is just a number for this regal canine. There are no other health issues or dietary restrictions for this very good girl. Matilda has a marvelous mane, fluffed up pointy ears, and a gorgeous black and white coat. Her markings are most interesting on her legs as there's a black and white polka dot pattern that laces her front paws. Matilda has a very sweet demeanor and she's great on a leash. We brought her outside for some fresh air while visiting and even as the big trucks blew past on the county highway, Matilda was unphased. She loves being a lap dog but also loves being held and carried. Her front paws go into 'limp mode' once she's scooped off the ground. Whether it's a walking companion for the warmer months ahead or a fun-loving snuggle bug, Matilda has all the traits to fulfill a family's dream of having the perfect pet. Matilda's history with other animals and children are unknown, but NCAL thinks that with a slow introduction that she will do just fine. For more information about Matilda and how to adopt, you can simply visit the North Country Animal League's website. Let's find this super sweet senior pup her Forever Home to live out those golden years. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
