Airbus to tackle Corwen in big cup semi-final clash

The likes of Danny Warren and George Peers have taken much of the plaudits for the Wingmakers this season, but it was Nathan Williams (pictured above) who grabbed the decisive goal as Airbus beat Trefelin 3-2 to lift the Cymru Cup. This followed Airbus winning the Cymru North Cup and also in their sights is the North East Wales FA Cup, with the Wingmakers heading to The Globe, in Buckley, for tonight's semi-final with Ardal League Corwen. Boss Allen told the club's YouTube channel: 'For Nathan to score, you know, he's come in this season from Gresford and been fantastic for us. Particularly as a defender, obviously, but he's grabbed some important goals for us as well. So, I'm delighted for him.' Corwen go into the game on a back of a stunning 6-0 win at Pwllheli where Pat Hinchcliffe hit a hat-trick and top scorer Sam Henry bagged his 20th goal of the season. Tonight's winners will take on Holywell Town in the final. Barring two bizarre results, The New Saints will be crowned champions in the FAW Reserves North East League. They head to Airbus tonight level on points with Flint Mountain but with a far superior goal difference. Llay Welfare host Prestatyn Town while Mold Alex will finish bottom after losing 4-3 at home to Ruthin Town. Joseph Delaney (2) and Zac Barnes were Mold's scorers while it finished 2-2 between Buckley Town and Holywell Town, who had goalkeeper Kieron Feenan sent off. Evan Lowry scored both for Buckley with Zak Dakin and Josh Acott replying. There are two games in the North East Wales Championship with fourth-placed Acton at home to Rhydymwyn, the team above them. Holywell United sign off at home to Cefn Druids while in Group B of the Reserves Division, Greenfield will go top with a win at Penyffordd Lions.
