Airbus to tackle Corwen in big cup semi-final clash
The likes of Danny Warren and George Peers have taken much of the plaudits for the Wingmakers this season, but it was Nathan Williams (pictured above) who grabbed the decisive goal as Airbus beat Trefelin 3-2 to lift the Cymru Cup.
This followed Airbus winning the Cymru North Cup and also in their sights is the North East Wales FA Cup, with the Wingmakers heading to The Globe, in Buckley, for tonight's semi-final with Ardal League Corwen.
Boss Allen told the club's YouTube channel: 'For Nathan to score, you know, he's come in this season from Gresford and been fantastic for us. Particularly as a defender, obviously, but he's grabbed some important goals for us as well. So, I'm delighted for him.'
Corwen go into the game on a back of a stunning 6-0 win at Pwllheli where Pat Hinchcliffe hit a hat-trick and top scorer Sam Henry bagged his 20th goal of the season.
Tonight's winners will take on Holywell Town in the final.
Barring two bizarre results, The New Saints will be crowned champions in the FAW Reserves North East League.
They head to Airbus tonight level on points with Flint Mountain but with a far superior goal difference.
Llay Welfare host Prestatyn Town while Mold Alex will finish bottom after losing 4-3 at home to Ruthin Town.
Joseph Delaney (2) and Zac Barnes were Mold's scorers while it finished 2-2 between Buckley Town and Holywell Town, who had goalkeeper Kieron Feenan sent off.
Evan Lowry scored both for Buckley with Zak Dakin and Josh Acott replying.
There are two games in the North East Wales Championship with fourth-placed Acton at home to Rhydymwyn, the team above them.
Holywell United sign off at home to Cefn Druids while in Group B of the Reserves Division, Greenfield will go top with a win at Penyffordd Lions.

What a way for Brickfield to make sure of Ardal title
Flairs went off as Brickfield, who only needed a point to become champions, routed Radnor Valley 6-0 at Clywedog Park. First half goals from Isaac Dawson, Aiden Fox and Tom Freeman, who scored from the spot, put Gareth Wilson's side 3-0 up at the break. And it got better in the second half with Freeman adding a second to go with goals from Jay Richardson and Callum Roberts. 'This season has been a brilliant achievement on and off the pitch,' said proud boss Wilson. 'The hard work that is put in off the field from Paul Hooson, Mike Derosa, Simon Mullen, Kev Owen and David Murray gives the platform for me and Matt Cook to compete on the pitch in a very tough league. 'Obviously and rightly so the team will get the plaudits and they fully deserve it but the 'team behind the team' have made all this happen.' The win for Rangers, who take on Porthmadog in the Ardal North Cup final next weekend, saw them finish three points clear of Bow Street while Llanuwchllyn ended up third. It was also a good day for Connah's Quay Town in an exciting climax to the North East Wales League's Reserves Division. Town clinched the Group B title and promotion to Group A with a 5-0 victory at Coedpoeth United, where both sides had a player red carded. Jon Tear-Edmonds and Lewis Harris hit doubles for Quay, whose superior goal difference pipped Lex XI to top spot. Eric Thomas was Quay's other scorer while runners-up Lex also signed off with a 5-0 away win. Their first team's top scorer Harry Massey hit a hat-trick while Sam Colley and Josh Betteley were also on target at FC Queen's Park. Greenfield will finish level on 53 points with the top two if they beat Coedpoeth at home on Tuesday night. Greenfield won 1-0 at Brymbo on Saturday with Dylan Radcliffe grabbing the winner while Penyffordd Lions were 7-1 winners at Johnstown. Jacob Melo-Farina (2), Kai Welch, Macken Tiley-Phillips, Daniel Shaw, Marcus Davies and Dylan Williams did the damage. Callum Poole replied with the hosts' consolation goal. Buckley Town brought the FAW Reserves North East League season where The New Saints were crowned champions to an end. Buckley beat Ruthin Town 3-1 thanks to Evan Lowry (2) and Daniel Horton.

Trophy treble finishes great season on a high for Airbus
After just missing out on the Cymru North title following an epic race with eventual champions Colwyn Bay, Airbus have shook off this disappointment in style by claiming a trophy hat-trick. On the back of winning the Cymru North Cup and Cymru Cup, the Wingmakers lifted the North East Wales FA Challenge Cup for the first time in their history via a 4-0 triumph over Holywell Town in the final. Reflecting on the support he has received from the backroom staff this season, boss Allen told the club's website: 'They are a real pleasure to work with and have supported me throughout the season in a number of ways that people don't see, as well as the obvious ones. I can't speak highly enough of them all.' George Peers, Josh Stevenson, Sam Baker and Ieuan Jones-Wellstead shared the goals to make sure of the trophy treble for Airbus. Corwen lifted the North East Wales Reserves' Cup courtesy of a 2-1 outcome against Mynydd Isa and FC Queen's Park pipped Rhostyllen 1-0 to lift the Horace Wynne Cup.

Cup glory is the main aim for Airbus and Holywell sides
And Warren has more than obliged in his debut season for the Wingmakers in Cymru North where he ended up the league's top scorer with 24 goals in 27 games. 'When I signed the manager said the lads will create chances and I just want you to score them,' said Warren. 'He insisted that he wanted nothing else from me, just scoring goals!' After goals galore during his days at Alyn Park, Warren hasn't looked out of place in the higher league. 'To be honest, I wasn't surprised that I'd score a lot this season because you can see what a good team we are,' added the striker. 'There's more finer details in Cymru North than there were in the Ardal League but I've always thought I'd gets goals. But there's more expectation at this level.' Whether Warren gets the chance to add to his tally in tomorrow's final showdown with Holywell Town remains to be seen. He didn't feature in the early round wins over Hawarden Rangers and Lex XI but started last month's thrilling semi-final shoot-out win against Corwen. 'The young lads have been given the chance in this competition and they got us to the final,' added Warren, whose side finished runners-up to Colwyn Bay but lifted both Cymru Cups. 'We had 16-year-olds and 17-year-olds in the side that beat Corwen. 'But Holywell is a big game, there's a bit of rivalry and the North East Wales FA Cup is something Airbus has never won before. 'The home game against Holywell in the league was a bit of a weird one. We battered them 8-3 and then we lost 2-1 away.' Holywell boss Johnny Haseldin wants to continue the habit of picking up silverware each season. The Wellmen claimed the Cymru North title in 2024, 12 months after they lifted the North East Wales FA Cup. While Airbus have had a busy spell of matches, Holywell's last run out was their 3-2 semi-final win over Mold Alex on April 17. 'We have got to make sure we look after ourselves and prepare as best we can,' said Haseldin. 'We spoke about it in training. We know the odds are against us, but we're not a team that looks for excuses. We want to go there and win it. 'At the start of the year, a cup and third place in the league was realistic and we have done that as a minimum. It's roll our sleeves up time.' Haseldin is keen to end the campaign on a high for everyone associated with the club. He added: 'Not just for the players, but for our brilliant supporters, who follow us through thick and thin.' What a season it has turned out to be for Airbus - and boss Allen is targeting a trophy treble. The Wingmakers have recovered from just missing out on the Cymru North title by claiming the Cymru North Cup and all-Wales Cymru Cup over recent weeks and Allen has praised his players for their efforts. He told the club's website: 'Extremely proud of the group this year and I include the lads from the development squad too who have stepped up. 'The aims we set out to achieve for this season have nearly all happened and, yes, the disappointment of not being promoted is difficult, it also spurs you on to achieve it when we resume for pre-season and I'm sure others in the group think the same too. 'As for this game Saturday, it's another final we are in and we want to win and get another piece of silverware for ourselves and the club. 'A completely different type of opponent that we are aware of and what they will bring to the game. But, yes, looking forward to the game.'
