Mid West Gascoyne football: Mingenew, Cervantes and Exmouth claim big wins in round four
The Mingenew Bulldogs flexed their muscles at home in a dominant display when they hosted Dongara on Saturday in round four of the North Midlands Football League. Bulldog Zane Chivers was awarded best on ground in the contest with teammates Abraham Wooden, Stuart Egan, Jack Mills and Alex Longford also named among the best. There were nine individual goal kickers for the Bulldogs with Liam Bennett, Clint Chivers, Alex Longford and Nicholas Sgambelluri kicking two apiece. Paul Kappeler led the way for Dongara with a three-goal bag with teammate Darcy Stephens following close behind with two goals to his name. The Bulldogs jumped out to an 11-point lead after the first quarter and never looked like giving it up from then on. Repeat inside 50s from the Bulldogs put Dongara's back group under intense pressure throughout the the contest. Dongara fought back in the third quarter only conceding one goal from Mingenew. But the Bulldogs dominated the last quarter with five goals to seal a 29-point win, 13.7 (85) to 8.8 (56). OTHER GAMES Coorow def. Carnamah Perenjori: 17.17 (119) to 2.1 (13) Three Springs def. Morawa: 13.7 (85) to 7.6 (48) CENTRAL MIDLANDS COASTAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE Cervantes ran over the top of Lancelin Ledge Point in round four on Saturday at home with a thumping 91-point victory. Tiger Sharks' James Corner had a day out in the forward line kicking 10 goals in the high-scoring affair. Jack Beer was next in line with four, teammate Gus Devitt booted three while Josh Harris and James Venturini kicked two apiece. Harris was named best for his side with two goals in an impressive performance out of the middle for the Tiger Sharks. Lancelin Ledge Point's goal-kicking duties were led by Gabriel Westlake with three, while Bailey Greenslade and David Hussey booted two. For Lancelin Ledge Point, Mackenzie Martin was named their best player in the defeat. Cervantes jumped out the blocks with a six-goal first term leaving Lancelin Ledge Point in the dust. Both teams levelled out in the second quarter, kicking four goals each, but Cervantes continued the charge in the third quarter. A five-goal third quarter was followed by a seven-goal performance in the last, which led to the Tiger Sharks cruising to victory in front of their home fans. The final score was Cervantes 22.20 (152) to Lancelin Ledge Point 9.7 (61). OTHER GAMES: Jurien Bay def. Moora, 11.13 (79) to 4.8 (32). BYE: Dandaragan GASCOYNE FOOTBALL LEAGUE Exmouth Eagles thumped the Warriors by 206 points on Saturday in round four with two 10-goal bags collected by two of their best players. Exmouth's captain Sam Fitzgerald and teammate Jarrad Faithfull led from the front with a 10-goal performance each in the demolition. Eagles' Thomas Reid kicked an impressive eight goals and claimed best-on-ground honours while Brody Ogle kicked three. The Warriors kicked their only goal of the game in the first quarter while the Eagles jumped out to a six-goal lead after the first term. It failed to slow down from there with the Eagles piling on the goals and running away with the game. Exmouth jumped out of the blocks in the third quarter with an 11-goal term before stacking on another 10 in the final term. The final score was Exmouth 33.16 (214) to Warriors 1.2 (8). The Ramblers had the bye.

Cervantes claimed a gritty 13-point win over Dandaragan in round three of the Central Midlands Coastal Football League on Saturday, collecting their second victory of the season. Dandaragan had a quick start with a six-goal quarter, while the Tiger Sharks kicked two goals, falling behind as the two sides went into quarter time. The Tiger Sharks fought back in the second term as they looked to claw their way back into the contest, kicking five goals in a strong fightback. Dandaragan only managed two goals, yet was still ahead by four points at half-time, 8.4 (52) to 7.6 (48). Another strong showing in the third term by Cervantes saw them edge ahead on the scoreboard in a four-goal quarter, two points clear of Dandaragan who managed three goals. It was all to play for in the last quarter with both sides looking for the win. Dandaragan booted four goals, but it was nothing compared to the fight from the Tiger Sharks which saw them kick six, leading them to victory. The final score was Cervantes 17.11 (113) to Dandaragan 15.10 (100). Best on ground for Cervantes were James Corner with nine goals, Gus Devitt, Lewis Harvey, Joshua Harris and Christos Gikas. In the other game, Lancelin Ledge Point defeated Moora by eight points, 17.9 (111) to 15.13 (103). Jurien Bay had the bye. NORTH MIDLANDS FOOTBALL LEAGUE The Mingenew Bulldogs got the wood over Three Springs in a thriller during round three of the North Midlands Football League on Saturday, bouncing back after their 71-point loss last week at the hands of the Magpies. It was a hot start in the first term with both teams going goal for goal, with Three Springs off to a flyer, kicking four straight goals to the Bulldogs three. The second quarter saw Three Springs charge on, failing to miss in front of goal, kicking another three straight while the Bulldogs struggled in front of goal kicking 1.9. At the close of the first half the scoreboard read Bulldogs 4.11 (35) to Three Springs 7.0 (42). A three goal third term from the Bulldogs saw them claw back the margin, but Three Springs continued the charge, bagging four in the quarter while inaccuracy in front to of goal continued to plague the Bulldogs. Three Springs held a nine-point lead going into the last change. The Bulldogs booted four points in the final term, while Three Springs only managed two majors. The Bulldogs grasped the win by four points 11.20 (86) to 13.4 (82). Best on ground for the Bulldogs were Clayton Fowler, Zane Chivers, Rohan McRae, Stuart Egan and Nicholas Sgambelluri while for Three Springs it was Kade Gillingham, Reece Hutton, Bradley Roworth, Keenan Mawson and Liam Mutter. In other matches, Dongara beat Carnamah Perenjori 11.10 (76) to 5.8 (38) and the Magpies won over Morawa, 12.10 (82) to 7.6 (48). GASCOYNE FOOTBALL LEAGUE Exmouth Eagles collected a commanding win over Ramblers in round three of the Gascoyne Football League, remaining undefeated in season 2025 after last week's 24-point win over the Warriors. A close opening term saw both side fighting for an edge as Exmouth managed to kick two goals clear of the Ramblers going into the second quarter. Exmouth added to their lead in the second, booting four goals while the Ramblers only could manage one against a strong Exmouth outfit. The score at half-time was Exmouth 8.8 (56) to Ramblers 3.5 (23). A huge third term saw Exmouth run away with it, adding seven goals and drawing their lead out to 70 points, with the Ramblers kicking one goal in the third. An 11-goal last term made sure that the Ramblers couldn't get back into the game with Exmouth finishing the game with authority. The Ramblers managed just one goal in the final term in what was a bloodbath for the visiting team. Final score was Exmouth 26.15 (171) to the Ramblers 5.10 (40). Best players for Exmouth were Nat Franklin, Stephen Murphy and Bailey Fisher while for the Ramblers it was Leon Pearton, Will Durmanich and Brett Byron. Warriors had the bye this round
