Students team up for drone showcase in Canfield
CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — High School students got a chance to see how a career in aviation can get you off the ground.
YSU's College of STEM and the ESC of Eastern Ohio teamed up to host the Northeast Ohio Future Pilots Drone Showcase.
Roughly 120 students took part in drone programs and other flying opportunities.
The workshop showed students how drone technology is used in different industries, exposing them to careers in flight and aviation.
The event was held at the Williamson Innovation Park in Canfield.
'You need to have places where things can be built and tried and tried again. You can make mistakes, and nobody cares. You go outside and wreck something and you come back in and rebuild it, and you go again,' Warren Williamson IV with Williamson Innovation Park said. 'This is the kind of facility kids need. So often, those kinds of things get left behind in traditional education.'
Students rotated between stations in groups of 25, spending about 40 minutes with each demonstration.
