Mhatre to lead, Suryavanshi retained as India announce U19 squad for Australia tour
Ayush Mhatre will continue to lead the side as India announced their U19 squad for the upcoming tour of Australia. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who impressed during the recently-concluded England tour, retains his spot in the side as Vihaan Malhotra has been named as the vice-captain to deputise for Mhatre. The Indian U-19 side will play three ODIs and two multi-day matches against Australia's U19 side in September. The tour will start with the ODI series on September 21, followed by the multi-day matches and end on October 7. Suryavanshi scored 355 runs and went on to hit the fastest ODI hundred in youth cricket, showcasing why he is one to watch out for. In the Test leg, it was Mhatre's time to shine as the Indian captain led from the front.
The Mumbai star went on to score 340 runs across four innings, which included two hundreds and a fifty. His final knock in the second Test saw him hit the fastest hundred in the history of youth Tests. India went on to win the ODI series 3-2 under Mhatre as both Tests would end in a draw.
