Tesla Adds iPhone Lock Screen Charging Updates and Child Detection Feature

Tesla's latest iOS update brings a highly requested feature to iPhone users: real-time Supercharging updates directly on the lock screen. According to Not a Tesla App, the update utilises Apple's Live Activities capability, which allows supported apps to deliver live status updates without unlocking the phone. This new feature lets Tesla owners monitor key Supercharging metrics at a glance, including time remaining, charge percentage, estimated cost, charging speed, and energy added. It offers added convenience and helps users avoid idle fees by notifying them when it's time to move the vehicle. However, the feature currently only applies to Tesla's Supercharger stations and does not support home or third-party charging. Tesla has added support for Live Activities on iOS with app update 4.45.0. If you're going to Supercharge tonight, send us a screenshot! Let us know if you notice any undocumented features as — Not a Tesla App (@NotATeslaApp) May 27, 2025 Available now through Tesla app version 4.45.0, this is one of the app's most notable enhancements since Tesla enabled Apple Watch digital key support late last year. Alongside the iOS upgrade, Tesla is also launching a 'Child Left Alone' detection feature for select vehicles. The system uses in-cabin radar to sense if a child has been left unattended. Initially rolling out in Europe for the updated Model 3 (mid-2023 and later), the feature represents a significant step forward in vehicle safety. It will notify the owner if a child is detected after exiting the car. Tesla's radar system, which currently detects passengers in front seats without relying on traditional seat sensors, is now extending its reach to monitor the back seat. The company says broader rollout to additional models and markets is expected 'later.' These updates reflect Tesla's ongoing commitment to improving both user experience and safety through software innovation.

Drone photos from Tesla factory hint at secret progress on long-awaited Cybercab: 'I predict there will be millions'

New photos taken from a Tesla factory seem to show that work is progressing on the company's future Cybercab. As reported by Not a Tesla App, the photos were taken by Joe Tegtmeyer (@JoeTegtmeyer), who frequently takes drone images of Tesla's Giga Texas facility. These came from the factory's casting machine area, with many indications showing that they could be for the upcoming driverless taxi. Tegtmeyer pointed out on the social media platform X that the castings don't look like Tesla's Model Y or Cybertruck, which normally come out of Giga Texas, as they are flatter and of a different size. Many commenters and reporters then noted the castings say "RTTX," which could mean "Robotaxi Texas." Cybertruck castings, for reference, say "CTTX." Other images seemed to show new parts for a Giga Press, which are the machines used to make Tesla castings. As Not a Tesla App pointed out, those machines are specialized for their exact vehicle, so new parts could indicate that production of a new model will soon begin. During his first-quarter earnings call with investors, Tesla CEO Elon Musk didn't give a lot of details on the Cybercab, but he did say the project is on track. He added that autonomous Model Ys, which will act as robotaxis, should be on the streets of Austin, Texas, by June. "I predict there will be millions of Teslas operating autonomously, fully autonomously, in the second half of next year," Musk said in April's Q1 earnings call. Previously, company officials have said the Cybercab will hold two passengers and feature wireless charging. Any positive movement on the Cybercab would be welcomed news for the electric vehicle pioneer, which has hit some roadblocks in the rollout of its autonomous Full Self-Driving technology in other markets and faced some other challenges this year. On that same investors call, Musk shared the company's first-quarter results, which showed a 20% year-over-year decline in auto revenue and a 71% drop in net income. Also during that first quarter, global sales numbers fell drastically, and Tesla's stock price lost more than one-third of its value. The fact that other automakers have introduced their own EVs to market is certainly a factor. However, Musk's increased involvement in politics has also played a role, damaging brand trust and pushing some buyers to explore their options as they seek more cost-effective and eco-friendly vehicles compared to traditional gas-guzzlers. Tesla races to deliver once-unthinkable tech to major US city — here's what we know

The future is en route to our doorstep, and it's being delivered by Tesla. The electric automaker has been pressing forward with its plans to create a network of driverless robotaxis, a concept generally reserved for science fiction until recently. According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, sci-fi will become a reality in June, Not a Tesla App reported. While Waymo (owned by Google parent company Alphabet Inc.) has already rolled out autonomous driving taxis in San Francisco and a few other cities, and China has also been introducing driverless taxis, Tesla's robotaxis haven't quite gotten off the ground. The Autopilot and Full Self-Driving features have been available to Tesla owners in some form or another for a few years now. The FSD function mostly takes over from the human driver and navigates them to their destination through traffic, stoplights, lane changes, and more. However, this version of FSD — or what's known as "supervised" FSD — still requires the driver to remain attentive, engaged, and ready to swiftly take the wheel. To create its fleet of driverless robotaxis, Tesla will need to employ unsupervised FSD. Unsupervised FSD takes the function to another level. It must safely navigate roads, react to traffic, and even self-park without human intervention. The potential risks are tremendous, which means the safety requirements are sky-high, too. Tesla has been fine-tuning unsupervised FSD for a while now, and it seems it is finally ready to unveil its work. At an earnings call in January, Musk announced the company's intent to launch its driverless robotaxis in Austin, Texas, come June, according to Car and Driver. The news outlet reported that the robotaxis will initially consist of Tesla's internal fleet of vehicles, meaning Model Ys and Model 3s, but not the Cybercab announced last October. Eventually, the plan is for unsupervised FSD software to become available to all Tesla owners. From there, the option would be available to rent out your own vehicle as a driverless taxi. Tesla is currently seeking a series of permits in California that will allow it to run an autonomous taxi service in the state. Regulations will vary from state to state, making it hard to predict how operations might expand, though considering the sales and stock troubles Tesla has had in recent months, the project is perhaps one of the clearer ways the company could rebuild a steady stream of vehicle sales without relying as much on public sentiment. This development is an amazing one, and it's not the only or the first of its kind, either. However, should this robotaxi concept prove successful, it may benefit both people and the planet. With a safe means of driverless EV transportation, fewer accidents may occur, and harmful heat-trapping pollution will undoubtedly be reduced as EVs replace fuel-burning vehicles. There will certainly be some risks involved. After all, FSD has not yet been perfected. However, in time, this may be revolutionary in making roads safer, cabs cheaper, and the planet healthier if it were all to come together as planned. Would you ride in a self-driving Tesla Robotaxi? Heck yes Probably Not anytime soon No way Click your choice to see results and speak your mind. Tesla causes stir after announcing major changes to the Cybertruck — here's what's happening

Tesla has officially launched the Cybertruck Long Range Rear Wheel Drive model. Although the vehicle comes with fewer features than the currently available model, it promises drivers an increase of up to 25 more miles per charge. As reported by Not a Tesla App, the Cybertruck LR RWD was unveiled on Tesla's Middle East website, along with the company's launch in Saudi Arabia. According to Tesla stats cited by the news site, the rear-wheel-drive version of the Long Range Cybertruck boasts a range of 350 miles and comes in at about 515 pounds lighter than the all-wheel-drive version. Tesla soon after announced that the model is available in U.S., per the news outlet, with a range of up to 362 miles on a single charge. However, this boost in range requires an optional soft tonneau cover that costs $750. While the Cybertruck LR RWD promises a longer range, it does sacrifice many features that some drivers might expect. The newly introduced model has ditched the air suspension, rear passenger display, and ventilated front seats. According to the announcement from Tesla on X, the Cybertruck model has a price tag of $62,490, following the use of the federal tax credit worth $7,500. Customers who order the truck can reportedly expect their vehicle to ship starting in June. While electric vehicles have yet to garner as much attention in the Middle East, Tesla may hope to bolster its car sales that have plummeted worldwide. The company has allegedly faced widespread scrutiny following Tesla CEO Elon Musk's venture into the political world. This has resulted in protests at Tesla dealerships in several countries. Through March, Tesla sales dropped by 13% around the globe compared to the first quarter last year, including a jaw-dropping 71% decrease in sales in Germany over January and February. The drop in sales comes after the company sold nearly 1.8 million vehicles in 2024. Although Tesla has seen a decline in sales, EVs in general have enjoyed an impressive rise in popularity. As noted by an International Energy Agency report, nearly one in five cars sold in 2023 was electric. With zero tailpipe pollution and typically lower maintenance costs, switching to an EV can help combat the effects of a chaotic climate and lower the global temperature while saving drivers money. If you were going to purchase an EV, which of these factors would be most important to you? Cost Battery range Power and speed The way it looks Click your choice to see results and speak your mind. Amid recall, Tesla's Cybertruck gets high-tech upgrade that could save drivers money: 'New software features'

Tesla Cybertrucks have been in the news lately for quality control issues including an eighth recall earlier in March, but the automaker is making a separate upgrade by equipping Cybertrucks with new tire sensors that can improve safety and performance. The technology, developed by Cerebrum Sensor Technologies, measures tire pressure and load as well as tread depth, temperature, camber alignment, and road conditions, Not a Tesla App reported. Paired with Tesla's Full Self-Driving system, the sensors allow the truck to adapt its traction and grip the surface optimally. The original equipment manufacturer created the sensors in 2022, and this is the third iteration. Vehicle and tire makers contributed to the design, and the data produced could help adjust the suspension in the Cybertruck and other Tesla models. This promises to improve the electric vehicles at a time when the company's sales are flagging. The lightweight device is about the size of a quarter, though it is much thicker. Fascinatingly, it can be reused after a tire has reached the end of the line. That's because it fits in rubber mounting sleeves that are used when new tires are installed. The sensors can also help fleet operators manage their vehicles by integrating the tire analytics with telematics systems through software or an app. "These sensors will likely be added to more of Tesla's OEM tire lineup in the coming months and years," Not a Tesla App concluded. "We may also see new software features that show you more data about your tires beyond pressure. Tesla could also issue proactive warnings about uneven wear or if the vehicle needs an alignment." This upgrade is part of what makes EVs so attractive to buyers. While gas-powered vehicles require expensive fuel and constant maintenance, their battery-powered siblings are much cheaper to operate. EVs are known to exhibit tire wear sooner than gas guzzlers because those batteries are heavy, but they do not need oil changes, belt replacements, or other regular tune-ups. This can save you thousands of dollars over the vehicle's lifetime. There are also state and federal incentives for buying an EV that can help you bank into five figures. Dropping EV prices, which will soon dip below gas vehicle costs, means even more bang for your buck. If you were going to purchase an EV, which of these factors would be most important to you?
