It all began on Monday morning after a shocking twist in Meghalaya murder case came to light. Police revealed that 24-year-old Sonam Raghuvanshi had murdered her 29-year-old husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in the northeastern state.
The plot twist instantly reminded netizens of a viral 10-rupee note from 2016 that had phrase 'Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai' (translating to 'Sonam Gupta is unfaithful') scribbled on it. Thus, the old meme trend began to re-emerge with social media users drawing connecting between Sonam Raghuvanshi and 'unfaithful' Sonam Gupta.
An X (formerly Twitter) user, @ayyo_whyyy, wrote that it was prophesied long ago that Sonam will be unfaithful, whether it's Raghuvanshi or Gupta. 'sonam ka to boht pehle bata rakha tha to bewafa hi raghuvanshi ho chahe gupta (sic)," the post read.
A discussion also began on 'mass hysteria around eloping and getting married to one's true love".
So far, the sitcom 'The Simpsons', French astrologer and Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga had been ruling the internet for some surreal predications. But the June 9 revelation changed it all, with the owner of 'Sonam Gupta' currency note being hailed for his warning.

Despite the widespread attention, the true identity of the person who wrote the message and Sonam Gupta herself remains unknown. Many now doubt whether Sonam Gupta even exists.

The message said, 'Nisha, my wedding is on June 10 but I cannot live without you. I will wait for you tonight at 9pm at Nuhu bus stop. -Khan"
