Three young men killed in horror crash as two people arrested

A 23-year-old driver and his passengers, aged 19 and 21, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Three young men have died following a horror two-car crash late last night, with two others arrested. Police were called to the incident on Cotgrave Road in Tollerton, Nottinghamshire, at around 11pm on Thursday, May 22. ‌ The 23-year-old driver of one car and two male passengers, aged 19 and 21, were pronounced dead at the scene. ‌ A 26-year-old, who was driving the other car, and his 20 year old male passenger, were both arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving as police enquiries continue. The other driver was also rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, with the crash site still cordoned off by police, reports the Mirror. Sergeant Mark Baker, from the Nottinghamshire Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: 'Three men have tragically lost their lives following this incident and our thoughts are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. 'The victim's relatives have been informed and will be supported by specially trained officers. 'We will be carrying out a thorough investigation to determine what has happened. Emergency services raced to the scene at Burns Statue Square in Ayr just after 9pm on Saturday, May 17. The woman is believed to have struck a female pedestrian with her car outside the busy Rabbie's Bar before fleeing the scene. The pedestrian was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock to be treated for her injuries, where her condition was described as serious but stable. Shelby Laughland appeared in Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, May 19, charged with attempted murder, assault to injury and an attempt to defeat the ends of justice, and was released on bail. The car involved was pictured on the pavement, lodged between the front of the pub and a bus shelter.
