Three young men killed in horror crash as two people arrested
A 23-year-old driver and his passengers, aged 19 and 21, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Three young men have died following a horror two-car crash late last night, with two others arrested.
Police were called to the incident on Cotgrave Road in Tollerton, Nottinghamshire, at around 11pm on Thursday, May 22.
The 23-year-old driver of one car and two male passengers, aged 19 and 21, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 26-year-old, who was driving the other car, and his 20 year old male passenger, were both arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving as police enquiries continue.
The other driver was also rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, with the crash site still cordoned off by police, reports the Mirror.
Sergeant Mark Baker, from the Nottinghamshire Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: 'Three men have tragically lost their lives following this incident and our thoughts are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
'The victim's relatives have been informed and will be supported by specially trained officers.
'We will be carrying out a thorough investigation to determine what has happened. The road will remain closed while this investigation takes place.'

In an unrelated incident last weekend, a 30-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a suspected hit-and-run outside a pub in Ayrshire.
Emergency services raced to the scene at Burns Statue Square in Ayr just after 9pm on Saturday, May 17. The woman is believed to have struck a female pedestrian with her car outside the busy Rabbie's Bar before fleeing the scene.
The pedestrian was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock to be treated for her injuries, where her condition was described as serious but stable.
Shelby Laughland appeared in Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday, May 19, charged with attempted murder, assault to injury and an attempt to defeat the ends of justice, and was released on bail.
The car involved was pictured on the pavement, lodged between the front of the pub and a bus shelter.

We told yesterday how the tragic teen's family said they had lived through a five weeks of "hell" and were planning to launch a fresh search for him. He went missing after visiting a pub in the Denny area before heading to a friend's party at around 3am last month. This Sunday would have marked five "long and painful" weeks since loved ones last heard from Cole. He last made contact on May, 4 and his cousin Aimee Tennie was hoping to gather the largest search for Cole yet and she launched an emotional plea for volunteers and support. A chilling video later later emerged of the teen in the Cumbernauld Road of the town area "running" and looking "spooked". Detectives investigating his disappearance say he was seen several days later on Wednesday, May 7. He had been at the intersection with Cumbernauld Road, in the Longcroft area. Police said he asked a schoolfriend for a lift around 8.45pm that evening.

'How do I know my mum isn't dead in a ditch after Israel arrested her?'
Seren Murphy, 43, was relaxing at home on a Saturday night when she got a message on the WhatsApp family group chat from her mum. She'd been arrested by Israel. Seren's mum, Máire Ní Mhurchú, 70, flew to the occupied West Bank in early May to do what she has done for 20 years – help Palestinians. But no one heard from the mum-of-three, grandmother-of-eight and great-grandmother-of-two for days after she was detained and threatened with deportation on Saturday, an order she is fighting in the courts. Seren, a librarian in Swansea, told Metro: 'How do I know she's not dead in a ditch somewhere? 'When you look at what's happening in Gaza, the fact that they have murdered aid workers and medical staff, what's to stop them from bumping off a little old lady?' As much as Seren's phone has been 'red-hot' recently from her frantically checking it, she knows her mum will be fine. She said: 'My mum is my hero. She's got the biggest heart of anybody I've ever met – Palestine is part of her life and soul.' Almost every autumn, Mhurchú, who goes by D Murphy, goes to the West Bank to help pick olives off the terraced hillsides. But the olives were unharvested when she landed last month. Seren said: 'The joy is disappearing. They're living in fear… Some of the villages she's been to have been bulldozed to the ground. Some people she knows are dead.' One village is Khalet Al-Daba'a in Masafer Yatt, home to 14 families before Israeli forces demolished 90% of the homes and infrastructure. Murphy, from Douglas in Cork, was joined by her friend Susanne Björk on May 28 to volunteer for the International Solidarity Movement (ISM). Israeli settlers serving as reservists reportedly told them to leave as they were in a 'military area' before police arrested them. Björk said: 'But the police and soldiers the day before had not mentioned this. How are we to know we were not supposed to be there?' After agreeing to board the next available flight, Björk was deported. Murphy is in Givon Prison and was denied counsel on Wednesday, ISM said. Björk said: 'I fear for D. She's a 70-year-old woman in detention – we had to fight to use the toilet.' On Wednesday, Seren's aunt received a call – it was Murphy, saying she had not spoken with her lawyer since Monday. Seren said: 'I'm reassured knowing she's still alive. It's surreal to think that way about your mum. 'But alongside those feelings is also anger at the fact we're in this situation and what is happening every day in Palestine.' Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people and taking 250 people hostage. Israel has killed nearly 54,700 Palestinians, mainly women and children. ISM told Metro: 'Israel labels indigenous Palestinians, their supporters and those who tell the truth about the genocide unfolding in occupied Palestine as criminals, uses force to silence and remove them from occupied Palestine.' Eddie Lyons Jnr was on golf holiday when killed in Spain
He was shot and killed alongside Ross Monaghan at a bar in Fuengirola, Southern Spain. According to the Daily Record, Lyons was on holiday with "golf buddies" from Dullatur Golf Club when he was gunned down in the ruthless assassination. It is understood that some of the golfers were still in the bar when Lyons and Monaghan were executed. Sources have confirmed the golfers are not affiliated with the gang violence - but saw Lyons as a stalwart member of their golf club. The golf club, near Glasgow, has also reportedly been flying flags at half mast this week as a mark of respect for Lyons, who grew up near the course. 'The truth is that the golf trip is one that has happened in previous years and he signed up for it well in advance with mates. The boys get out to Spain and have a laugh and play some good courses. 'They had been there for several days and wanted to go to the Champions League Final, so Eddie arranged for him and a few others to go along to a bar that was owned by his mate. 'He arranged that he would catch up with Ross Monaghan there and they were having a bog-standard, social evening until all hell broke loose.'
