Where's Tony Galati? Spud king kicks of WA Day celebrations

A gaggle of Galati's at Nova's Tony Galati party. Picture: Matt Jelonek / The West Australian The WA Day long weekend kicked off with a rooftop party in the Perth CBD celebrating the one and only spud king Tony Galati. Nova 93.7 winners gathered on the Stories rooftop, all dressed as the man, the myth, the mullet himself and of course, didn't forget the bushy eyebrows. Hosted by Nathan, Nat & Shaun, the night was packed with laughs, legendary looks, and plenty of potatoes. From fake brows to flannel shirts, the costume effort was next level – and the photo booth? Pure gold. Shoutout to Chantell Tracey from Caversham, who walked away $5000 richer (and possibly with a new appreciation for denim). The Spudshed team bought the Galati magic for an unforgettable night of fun, fries, and WA pride.

Radio presenter's embarrassing reason for show's dead air

Nova 93.7 presenter Ross Wallman has reluctantly come clean as to why the Perth station went off-air early on Tuesday morning without notice. Speaking candidly on Nathan, Nat & Shaun's breakfast show, the radio personality explained how he'd broken the number one rule of radio while preoccupied with a number two. 'I don't like talking about this, but if you were listening this morning at 5:40am, we went off air,' Wallman told his breakfast colleagues. 'Why's that, Ross?' Nat Locke asked. 'Well, it's a little technical thing. It's my responsibility to keep us on air...' he said. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . 'And then I heard it go off-air so I had to run back in, but I couldn't because I had to use the toilet paper. But the toilet paper was brand new toilet paper so I couldn't get that first bit,' Wallman explained, with McManus in hysterics. 'So I couldn't start it off, so I'm tearing at it, and little tiny flakes are coming off. And Amy's (breakfast show producer) paging me, 'Ross, we're off air! Come to the studio!' Ross Wallman detailed his embarrassing incident. Credit: Nathan, Nat and Shaun / IG ''I can't come to the studio until this is finished!'... Anyway, that was my morning.' However, the luckless presenter appeared more nervous about crafting an explanation to network executives than confessing the blunder to listeners and his co-presenters. 'Because we were off-air for long enough that it triggers an automatic alert to all the people in charge...' Locke said. To which Wallman exclaimed, 'I have to write an official report now, as to why we went off-air at 5:40!' Despite the network achieving a favourable recent survey result, regular listeners would have noticed the continued absence of breakfast show stalwart Nathan Morris, following a brief return to the airwaves earlier this month. The Kalgoorlie-raised presenter has spent much of the last three months away from the studio, which he addressed upon his return on May 5. 'Sometimes, something comes in that's so different no-one has gone through it, no-one can give you advice,' he told listeners. Nat Locke, F1 commentator David Croft, Shaun McManus and Ross Wallman. Credit: Nathan, Nat and Shaun/IG / IG 'It's legal proceedings (that have) got nothing to do with me but I cannot speak about it because of that.' Morris said he needed to take time away to 'deal with that situation and also sort of process what had happened'. Following his latest leave of absence, listeners have expressed their continued support for the star. 'Does anyone know when Nathan will be back again? Assuming he's away for the same reason as last time. Hope he's able to get some help as miss him on the airwaves!' one fan wrote on Instagram. Another said, 'Obviously its affected him deeply and just hope he's getting the help and support he needs and he's back on air soon as not the same without him'.

Nova radio host returns to air after extended absence: 'Something happened in my personal life'

Nova 93.7 Perth star Nathan Morris returned to the airwaves on Monday after an extended absence. The 48-year-old radio veteran told listeners he went missing from his popular breakfast show with Shaun McManus and Nat Locke so he could deal with a 'monumental' personal issue. Nathan said he could not reveal details about his enforced break because it involved a legal matter. 'Something happened in my personal life that was one of these monumental things that happens that you can't really process,' he said during Monday's Nathan, Nat and Shaun show. 'Something comes in that's so different no one has gone through it, no one can give you advice.' 'It started back last year and reared again this year. I can't speak too much about it because there is legal proceedings that's got nothing to do with me but I cannot speak about it because of that.' The 48-year-old radio veteran told listeners he went missing from his popular breakfast show with Shaun McManus and Nat Locke so he could deal with a 'monumental' personal issue In March, Nova management told listeners that Nathan would be taking a break. The announcement came after fans raised concerns on social media after the Big former Brother star repeatedly missed episodes of his show in February. Last week, Nova took to social media to tease Nathan's comeback, which received an enthusiastic response from his fans. 'Yayyyy! This is bigger & better news than the election. We missed you,' messaged a listener on the Instagram post. 'Finally! Missed him so much [I] had to change stations sorry guys just not the same without Nathan !!! Welcome back buddy ! Over excited,' added another fan. 'I heard this news and literally started hyperventilating,' gushed a third listener. Nathan's spotty on-air appearances on his program were addressed during the breakfast show by his co-hosts in March. 'When me and Nat saw each other in the lift this morning I was thinking about walking out and just leaving her to do the show by herself,' co-host Shaun McManus joked on March 12. He continued: 'I said, wouldn't that be funny to start the day, cos' we're a man short. Hopefully Nathan will be back very shortly.' Nathan rose to fame on the 2002 season of Big Brother Australia. The Kalgoorlie-born fan favourite lasted 56 days in the house before he was evicted. Nathan's breakfast stint at Nova's 93.7 began in 2003 with Nat Locke. The pair were joined by Shaun McManus in 2009. In an interview celebrating his 20 years at Nova the popular announcer discussed his career plans. 'I love the people that I work with, I love our team, so if we keep performing well, my future is going to be Nova,' he told Media Week in 2023.

Perth radio host's return date confirmed after long absence

The return of beloved Perth breakfast radio host Nathan Morris has finally been confirmed after an extended absence from the airwaves. A key pillar of the Nathan, Nat & Shaun trio, Morris has been largely unheard and unsighted in the Nova 93.7 studio since early March. On Friday, the commercial station took to social media to tease his return, slated for Monday, May 5. 'Who can ride a penny-farthing and is also back on Monday?' a post read. 'Wonder who it could be?' If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . To find out more about how we use cookies, please see our Cookie Guide. While breakfast stalwarts Shaun McManus and Nat Locke had been entrusted to fill the void, along with several other rotating station figures, fans had been begging for the star to re-take his seat after two months away. And while many have continued to enquire about whereabouts, the reason for his absence is still yet to be revealed. 'So exciting that Nathan is back. You have been missed but Nat and Shaun (and Ross) did a great job xx,' one fan wrote. 'What happened to Nathan we all miss him?' another asked. Nat Locke, F1 commentator David Croft, Shaun Mcmanus, and Ross Wallman. Credit: Nova 93.7 In response to the Kalgoorlie-raised personality's return, some listeners posited a connection between his time adrift and that of competing host Kymba Cahill of Mix 94.5. 'And Kimba from 94.5 returned Thursday!! I bet ya $50 they were on something together!! Yay Nathan is back,' one social media user said. However, Cahill — who has sparked similar speculation after extended time away — addressed her absence on Thursday in a candid message to listeners. 'I'll just be upfront about it, the truth is I needed a break', she told co-host Pete Curulli. 'I won't go into the specifics, it was largely triggered by some really hurtful, nasty things that were said online about me towards me. 'I was harrassed and bullied, it took a huge toll on me. I shut down all of my socials because I needed time to recover and find some head space so that I could reset and return to this show.' The latest development in Morris' absence was foreshadowed on March 21 when NOVA advised PerthNow of his expected return timeline. 'Nathan will be on personal leave from the breakfast show for the current survey period. Nat and Shaun will continue to co-host the show while Nathan takes a break,' the network said. Remarkably, the affable presenter's lack of airtime did not get in the way of Nova's favourable survey ratings result — announced earlier this week. Among the station's achievements were the titles of Perth's most popular breakfast show, as well as most popular station. Dave McClung, Group Programming Operations & Commercial Integration Director, described Nova 93.7's best ratings result in two years as 'absolutely brilliant'.
