Radio star's wife reveals horror find on her car: 'Burn it'

The wife of Nova radio star Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli has revealed she experienced a frightening encounter this week. Lisa Wipfli took to her Instagram to share images of a menacing-looking spider, which she discovered nesting on her vehicle recently. The former marketing guru, 41, made the discovery while she was driving in the rain in her hometown of Melbourne. Lisa shared an image of the arachnid, which appeared to be a huntsman spider, clinging to the outside of her vehicle while she was stopped in traffic. 'This guy just went behind my rear-view mirror, so I'm selling my car now,' she joked. Sharing another image on her Instagram stories, Lisa appeared to have a sense of humour about her close encounter with the spider. A follower offered Lisa 'advice' about how best to rid herself of the spider nesting in her car 'If you hear sirens in the East, you'll know why,' she said. Meanwhile, several of Lisa's followers and friends offered 'advice' about how to get rid of the spider. 'Burn the car,' one person replied to the post. Another friend added: 'Jesus I can't deal [with this]. Can you fumigate a car with a natural product? What if it had babies? 'I'm serious! They like warm places like the motor...' 'Oh for f*** sake,' Lisa replied while admitting the comment from her friend was adding 'a layer she hadn't even thought of'. 'My husband has done this!' shared another of Lisa's followers. 'Literally got out of the car and phoned the dealership and got rid of the car. Major arachnophobia,' they explained, referring to an irrational fear of arachnids. After Lisa asked the person whether they were 'serious' about the story, they replied: 'Totally 100 per cent.' While Lisa did not clearly identify the kind of spider now resting in her car, the pictures reveal it closely resembles a huntsman spider. According to a guide to spiders common in the Melbourne area, huntsman spiders are 'larger' spiders, which makes them intimidating. 'They also like to hide in cars. They only bite when they are provoked,' the guide from pest control brand Flick explained, adding that huntsman spiders are not 'dangerous'. But a victim of a bite from this type of spider is likely to experience some pain and swelling at the site, according to the advice. Lisa has been married to Wippa, 45, for 11 years, and the pair are known for their amusing social media shares. Together they share three children, sons Theodore, eight, Jack, seven, and daughter Francesca, four.

Father Robb Evans holds daughter's ashes as he meets Prime Minister, thanks him for Youtube ban

Melbourne father Robb Evans held onto his daughter Liv's ashes as he met the Prime Minister at his parliament house office. It was there he thanked Anthony Albanese for the ban on YouTube and social media for under 16s, which begins at the end of the year. Liv Evans, 15, tragically took her own life in August 2023 after suffering through an eating disorder fuelled by schoolyard bullies and social media. Her father is a member of advocacy group 36 Months and joined fellow parents who have also lost their children when meeting Albanese on Wednesday. 'I'm proud to be sitting here with you today because it shows real leadership on your part to stand up for the parents of our kids,' Evans told the Prime Minister. 'I can't bring Liv back, but we can have an impact and make these tech giants realise they need to make change. 'You won't budge on that and I couldn't be prouder.' Also in attendance was Bathurst's Emma Mason, mother of Matilda (Tilly) Rosewarne, who took her life aged 15 in February 2022 as well as Brisbane's Mia Bannister, mother of Ollie and founder of Ollie's Echo, who took his life in January 2024, aged 14. Mason told the Prime Minister: 'You are leading our world and that is impressive, for our lost babies and future children.' Nova Radio host and 36 Months Advocate, Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli, said 'children have been lost, but they're here with us in spirit.' 'I want you guys to know their efforts aren't lost, their thoughts are with us, and their efforts aren't lost,' he said. 'There have been a lot of questions about how the social media landscape will look. It will still exist and be there, just in the appropriate time and space.' The Laws The changes to the laws announced by Communications Minister Anika Wells mean that under 16s will still be able to use YouTube in a logged-out state, but they won't be able to hold an account. YouTube Kids will also still be available for access. Proposed age-restricted social media platforms originally included Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and X, but not YouTube as the Government believed it had educational benefits. But the E-Safety Commissioner Julia Inman Grant intervened following a survey of adolescents, finding YouTube can be just as harmful as other sites. Deput Opposition Leader, Ted O'Brien, said it was 'curious the government didn't make this clear before the election, its intent and now it has changed its mind.' Kate Ritchie fails to show up to annual Singles Party as she all but confirms her departure from Nova radio gig

Kate Ritchie has all but confirmed her departure from her Nova radio gig by failing to show up to the station's annual Singles Party on Tuesday night. The 46-year-old was absent from the event which was hosted by her co-hosts Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald and Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli. Kate did not feature in a video posted to the radio station's Instagram page recapping the event. She has not been mentioned in the lead up to the event although her name was still featured on station promos. There has been ongoing speculation over when she'll return to co-host Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Nova 96.9 following her sudden departure in January after a troubling public incident in a Sydney park. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Last month, Fitzy and Wippa shared some details about their Singles Party but made no mention if their absent co-star Kate would be attending. 'It's back, Fitzy, Wippa and Kate Ritchie's Singles Party returns! One night, one room, 100 chances to find the one,' a promo played on the station said. Wippa then chatted to Kate's fill-in presenter Chrissie Swan about the event and told her it was going to be a great night aboard a luxurious yacht on the Sydney Harbour. 'Chrissie, last year you weren't even there! You are not going to believe it, before the Slow Dance took place, a couple already held hands and wandered off because they were having such a good time together,' Wippa began. 'This is the power of the Singles Party and it is back again for 2025, bigger and better!' Fitzy then jumped it to discuss how diverse the event would be - but failed to mention if Kate would be attending. 'It was such an eclectic group of people we had [at last year's event]. A weird mix, ladies who had been unlucky in love, older men, private school boys, it was all over the ship and an amazing night,' Fitzy said. An excited Chrissie then said she needed to 'get in on this' and asked if she could attend, to which Fitzy responded: 'Yes... we need you here.' The radio network first shared the news of the event on June 1st, alongside a promo image featuring Fitzy, Wippa and Kate, who had been absent from the show for several months. Confused listeners demanded to know if Kate will be returning to the radio program after appearing on the event poster. 'Where is Kate? She has been absent all year and nothing has been mentioned about her coming back, is she returning or not?' one person asked. 'Hope Kate is going well, will she be returning this year?' another concerned fan said. Kate's Instagram bio doesn't mention Nova anymore; instead she is simply 'actor, radio and broadcaster' which may point to her making a quiet exit. Kate has been receiving ongoing support at a rehabilitation facility since the incident, which saw her photographed in tears and appearing visibly distressed shortly after picking up daughter Mae from school. At the time, Kate released a heartfelt statement on social media explaining her decision to step away from the show. 'I struggle with mental health issues at times, which are deeply personal. This has proven to be a bigger challenge than I imagined,' she began. 'So I have decided to take a break from the show and the team who I love to focus on my health. I want to thank all of those who are helping me through this very difficult time. Thank you Nova for being there when I need you.' At the time, Nova's co-hosts had promised their audience that the absent Kate would return after one day off, but that timeline was soon dropped. Nova has remained tight-lipped on any potential comeback date and did not respond to questions about whether the embattled star had continued to receive pay during her absence.
