Russian Gas Exports to Europe Jump 10% in May
Moscow – SABA: Daily supplies of natural gas from Russia to Europe via the "TurkStream" pipeline increased by 10.2% in May compared to the previous month. This was confirmed today, Monday, by the Russian news agency "Novosti," which cited calculations based on data from the European Network of Gas Transmission System Operators (ENTSOG). Novosti reported that the average gas flow through the "TurkStream" pipeline—which runs from Russia to Turkey under the Black Sea—from May 1, 2025, to May 31, 2025, was 45.9 million cubic meters per day. This marks a 10.2% increase compared to April, when the figure stood at 41.7 million cubic meters per day. The total volume supplied in May reached 1.42 billion cubic meters, while in April, it was 1.25 billion cubic meters. The "TurkStream" pipeline consists of two lines for exporting gas from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea. The first line is dedicated to supplying natural gas to Turkish consumers, while the second delivers gas to countries in Southern and Southeastern Europe (Serbia, Romania, Greece, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Hungary). The total capacity of the "TurkStream" pipeline is 31.5 billion cubic meters per year. Following the halt of Russian gas transit through Ukraine on January 1, 2025, this route has become the sole pathway for Gazprom to deliver its supplies to Europe. Pakistan has no intention to start conflict with India unprovoked
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani army has no plans to start an armed conflict with India unless the latter provokes an escalation, Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif told RIA Novosti. 'Well, we do not have any intentions of initiating any action, but if there is an action [from India], then there will be a reaction, and the reaction will match the action. 'So I think that makes the situation clear—we do not want to escalate or initiate anything, you know. But if India attempts to invade Pakistan or attack Pakistan, they'll be met with more than a matching response,' the minister said.

Kyiv not ready to discuss US peace plan proposal
MOSCOW: Ukraine appears reluctant to discuss the peace plan framework prepared by the United States during upcoming talks in London, Axios reported, citing a US official. According to Russian news agency Sputnik/RIA Novosti, Axios said on Tuesday night that in the past 24 hours, there had been "indications from the Ukrainians" that they only planned to discuss a 30-day ceasefire on Wednesday, instead of US President Donald Trump's complex peace plan proposal. The Washington Post reported earlier on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter, that the Trump administration would propose during the upcoming talks with Ukrainian and European representatives in London for Crimea to be recognised as part of Russia and the front lines halted as part of a peace agreement. The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing a person with knowledge of the negotiations, that British and French officials were "open to a scenario" where Ukraine would "accept the loss of control of some of the territories taken by Russia," in exchange for economic support and security guarantees. The newspaper specified that France and the United Kingdom would prefer a Ukraine peace deal that acknowledged control of territories "only in a de facto way." The New York Post has reported, citing a senior US administration official, that Kyiv was seemingly "willing to give up 20 per cent of its land," but only if it was considered a "de facto" recognition of the territory and not "de jure." Last week, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Steve Witkoff, the US special presidential envoy for the Middle East, held talks on the conflict resolution with representatives from Germany, the UK, and Ukraine, as well as with French President Emmanuel Macron, in Paris. On April 18, Rubio said he hoped the next meeting between Ukrainian and European representatives would lead to progress in the Ukrainian settlement. On Tuesday, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said Rubio would not attend the upcoming talks in London. The US would be represented by special envoy Keith Kellogg.
